Time passes much more quickly in Rohandor and many long and happy years have gone by since the characters retired to enjoy their respective 'happily ever afters,' their greatest foes were imprisoned in the Forever Stone, bound in an eternal sleep. Until Now.
Happily Ever Afters takes place in Rohandor, a mystical realm on another plane of existence from our own. Here our favorite Disney heroes and villains live in a world all their own; Alive, but far from well. Heroes and heroines fight to keep peace while newly freed villains seek their revenge. Come join us in an epic adventure as the characters you love clash in a struggle that will determine the fate of Rohandor!

"I knew a smart guy like you could see sense. You must get a lot of brainpower going running through those mazes for the cheese at the end."
Naturally Dodger didn't have thumbs nor enough dexterity in his paws to pick up the necklace the easy way. He snapped up the end of it in his mouth, flipped it over his head then shook enough for it to slide down over his neck with a little extra shaking to secrete it under his scarf. Ideas ran through his head on how to recover the last few gems that the rat took, most of them revolving around squeezing him like a ketchup bottle until they fell out of his pockets.
For now though, the terrier just grinned as his new partner took charge and led him to the nearest window. After hopping up on the bench and propping himself up Dodger managed to paw at the latch enough to open the first part of their escape route.
"Up and at 'em shrimp."
Dodger leaned over the edge of the bench and snatched up Ratigan by his tail, bounding up through the window onto the ledge outside. A few floors up but plenty of walking space to work with if they wanted to circle the building. If the police or security saw the open window they'd hopefully look for the intruders out on the ground rather than climbing out themselves. For now they just had to find a way down before the law got themselves organised.
"So what's your story?" Dodger muttered through clenched teeth as he carried his vermin cargo. "Not many rats out there pilfering fancy chains."
ooc: Feel free to squirm loose, just having Dodger bust his chops a little but I don't want to limit your actions in a reply.
Ratigan was already deeply regretting his choice to team up with Dodger merely because of his reluctant partner's abrasive personality, but that regret doubled once the dog picked him up by his tail. This was exactly why he hated dogs--his beloved Felicia wouldn't have even thought to carry him in such an undignified fashion. Still, it was a better option than trying to wriggle free and risking a fall to the alleyway below. But only a marginally better option.
That margin shrunk every time Dodger spoke, of course. Ratigan bristled at being called a rat, struggling to keep his already worn-thin temper under control. It was the final straw for him, and he twisted out of the canine's grasp to land, not as gracefully as he would have liked, on the ledge just ahead of Dodger. He stood, dusted himself off, shot a pointed glare behind him, and continued carefully along the ledge. Hopefully that would suffice to put him back in charge of their joint escape plan--the mongrel was far too careless, and was likely to attract the notice of the police if allowed off-leash for too long.
"I don't believe that my 'story' is any of your business. Besides, shouldn't we try to stay quiet to avoid detection by the police? What kind of thief are you?" Ratigan hissed at the dog, sneering over his shoulder before looking ahead again, this time searching for a drainpipe or fire escape. One of the two was sure to be just around the corner they were heading towards, if he remembered correctly from his research on the building's layout.
Dodger found the rat just as abrasive, but kept his responses limited to trying to push as many buttons as he could to strain what remained of his temper. Though they were allied for now in evading the security and police, they would soon be opponents once more. If you could get your opponent seeing red they couldn't focus on the little details and that was when you could go for the prize.
Around the next bend was the fire escape. Dodger bounded ahead of Ratigan and started his descent, making sure to put some space between them to avoid another bite on the leg. The terrier put a little style into his steps as he made his way down to street level, getting the beat going for the confrontation that was sure to come once they were in the clear. The alleyway was a bit more cluttered than usual, with the trash pickup due and everyone getting their boxes, cans and dumpsters out for collection in the morning.
Dodger made sure to get the lay of the battleground, what could be stood on and what could could topple, what could be cover and what could be a weapon.
"and if we're sticking together for now what's wrong with sharing a little backstory? At least tell me what's the deal with the cape. You one of those guys that dresses like their favourite comic book character?"
Ratigan startled and snarled as Dodger breezed past him, an instinctive response while his temper was already worn thin and his fear of heights still very much present. Despite his nerves, he hurried down the steps at Dodger's heels, not wanting to let the dog get too far ahead of him lest he decide to run away with the necklace.
True, Ratigan had already snagged a couple of the smaller jewels dangling from the chain, but that was hardly enough, given how much work he'd put into this heist and how many diamonds were still on the necklace. He would collect the sum he deserved, and accept nothing less. Unfortunately, it was looking more and more unlikely that he would be able to dupe the mongrel ahead of him into giving up the more valuable gems.
He'd assumed that Dodger was simply after the necklace because it was flashy and sparkly, not caring about its worth or prestige, but he had to concede that the dog had the air of a practiced thief despite his showboating tendencies. And really, though he hated to admit it, he was a bit of a showman himself, and shouldn't find fault in the mongrel for that particular weakness.
Besides, Dodger had just brought up a rather intriguing possibility. Despite their clashing personalities, it was possible that the pair of them could work well as a proper team in the future, provided they were indeed able to 'stick together'. Yes, perhaps having the mutt as an ally could be useful, even if he was only a petty thief and not one for the kind of high-collar crimes Ratigan favoured. Nevertheless, he ought to be prepared for Dodger to betray him somehow--for there was no doubt that Ratigan himself would be preparing to do much the same if he were the one holding the necklace.
"Very well," He began, idly pacing as he scanned the ground to locate the nearest sewer grate or other underground escape route. "I make my home in London, and make my living primarily through the theft of jewels such as the ones around your neck. Speaking of which--I believe we had a deal? Unless the concept of honour among thieves is considered an antiquated notion here."
He stopped his pacing in front of Dodger's muzzle, one gloved claw outstretched expectantly.
"London. Classy. I'll have to put that place on my tourism bucket list."
Ratigan had his hand out after his brief biography, expecting Dodger to hand over the necklace and citing the deal they brokered. While honour among thieves was a good concept in theory, the terrier was still smarting about the earlier attempt to use him as a scapegoat, so was less than impressed that someone would demand honourable treatment after not showing it earlier.
"Yeah, I remember the deal. The deal that I help you get out and we split the loot, plus you did say that you didn't need the whole necklace. Not sure I remember the part where I agreed to hand it over to you. and not to toot my own horn but I've got a good memory about these kinds of things. So how about we call this transaction complete and I'll see you in the funny pages."
Feigning a pawshake gave Dodger enough space to push Ratigan onto his backside in a dismissive gesture before casually strutting backwards out of the alley. Of course he didn't turn his back on the criminal right away, after having being on the wrong end of his teeth, but he didn't show his concern for any other upcoming attack. Instead he put a little jazz into his movements, dancing along with the city sounds as he backed out onto the main streets and stopping over a vent in the sidewalk. A quick two step kept him one step head of the sudden bursts of air coming from underground, giving the canine an extra beat before he broke into song.
"Life is a rat race, chasin easy money, Life is a rat race, chasin your tail. Life is a rat race, land of milk and honey, Running the rat race, never fails.
Easy money gonna come your way. Easy money gonna break your heart. Easy money, calling your name baby A fool and easy money always part."
Of course he could just run and easily outdistance the rodent, but Dodger really wanted the full necklace including the few jewels in his ex-partners pocket. If he could be provoked into chasing him then he might also be tricked into dropping his ill gotten gains.
