Wildwing watched Robin hesitate. And, he supposed, there were good reasons for it. He was a former criminal living the good life: once shunned, now adored by his people for, apparently, helping deliver them out of a terrible period in their history. He was married to a woman that he clearly loved, given the softness in his tone when he spoke of her.
A life like that was not an easy one to give up to go back to fighting wrongs and doing battle, he supposed.
Still, he watched and took a seat as Robin moved to the playing field, the rooster announcer taking great joy in heralding his arrival, and the crowd went wild for it. They clearly loved this man of the people even if he'd become something of a noble. This was not loyalty one could buy.
Nor, he supposed, was it talent that somebody could buy. Robin's movements with the bow were smooth and fluid, not a wasted shift among them. The first arrow flew true and the second, well....
That was something he certainly wouldn't forget soon, not with the crowd roaring its approval in his ears all the way as Robin rejoined him. "Was that little demonstration supposed to prove a point?"

Robin flopped down on the bench beside Wildwing, grinning despite himself. At Wildwing’s question, Robin gave a shrug and a soft laugh. “Its just for show. A bit of fun.” It wasn’t as though Robin went touting his skills about the village every day. This was a special occasion. Still, he wouldn’t exactly turn down the offer. He was a bit of a showman by nature.
The tournament began. It was simple enough. Targets were moved back a few more yards after each round with contestants eliminated as they missed. The contestant who could hit the farthest target would win the prize.
While they watched, Robin brought up the topic they’d been discussing before hand.
“So… who else have you approached with this idea of yours, my friend? And have you been to see the Princesses?”
As terrible as the villains were, Robin knew that Rohandor was protected by three powerful women. Each of them had magic that Robin didn’t particularly understand, but he sensed that it was a power that could be trusted. Robin had not been to see them himself, but now that Wildwing had broached the subject of the very real threat his people faced from an angry villain, Robin was tempted to do just that.
Wildwing relaxed and smirked slightly at Robin's comment. "Bit of a showoff, huh? I can respect that." Again he was reminded a little of Duke.
Now Robin asked about any other potential allies. "Met a couple from Halloween Town, Jack and Sally. They said they'd help out if it was needed. Ever been to that neck of the woods? I'm supposed to visit sometime."
And then the question of the Princesses arose. His expression grew more thoughtful. He knew enough that they were the magical protectors and guardians of Rohandor, and that they'd trapped various villains within the Forever Stone that they'd now begun to escape from. And there were of course other various threats around that were starting to grow bolder.
"I'll tell them about Dragaunus and his cronies at least," he admitted. "That way they know what they're in for when it comes to what they can do."
A pause. "But I think we need people on the ground to actually take the fight to them and any others. They've already got a lot on their plates with protecting the realms. I don't think adding to that burden is a good idea. And if villains keep getting bolder, a lot of people are gonna have to step up to join the fight."
He gave Robin a significant glance. "So how about it? You in?"
Wildwing called him a showoff, to which Robin replied with another grin. He wouldn’t deny it.
The duck went on to tell Robin about Jack and Sally of Halloween Town. Robin tilted his head, listening curiously. “Never heard of it. ... Truthfully I haven’t ventured farther than Zootopia.”
The conversation became more serious then, as Wildwing’s voice lowered and he spoke of banding together to fight the villains before they could attack first. Robin listened, his expression sober now, and watched Wildwing closely. He had to admit that Wildwing reminded him a great deal of himself in the old days. Fight, and damn the risks.
There was a cheer from the crowd around them as one of the archers got a particularly good shot. When the din had died down a little, Robin finally spoke.
“… these villains… I haven’t faced anything like them before. If what I’ve heard is true, I agree with you… it’s only a matter of time before one of them decides to exact some revenge.” Robin rubbed his chin thoughtfully, his eyes traveling over the faces of those around him— his people. They were all enjoying the fair, heedless of any darkness that may be gathering elsewhere in the world. It was Robin’s job to protect them.
Robin turned back to Wildwing. Before, the Duck had offered his hand and Robin had not taken it. Now the fox extended his hand.
“If it comes to a fight, my men and I are with you.”
(OOC: Feel free to finish us off, I feel like I've done what I wanted here )
Robin admitted that he hadn't traveled farther than Zootopia, which Wildwing had definitely heard of. "I need to go there too at some point," he said. "Feels like I'd fit in pretty well there, huh?" He gestured at himself with a small smile.
The fox now mused about the resurfaced villains wanting revenge. "Or worse," Wildwing continued. "I don't think they'd stop at that, any of them. Especially since some of them are supposed to have armies and henchmen and things that only people like us are equipped to deal with. That's going to need coordination between us to handle."
Thankfully, it seemed that Robin ultimately agreed with him, saying that if things got ugly, he and his people could be counted on. Wildwing shook the offered hand vigorously. "Glad to hear it."
Breaking the handshake, he fumbled around in his pockets and....there! It was an extra communicator, the same kind that he'd given to Jack and Sally upon their own meeting. He moved to hand it to Robin. "This is something that can reach us in Anaheim or anywhere else that we happen to be. Press the main button and it'll contact us. If we can, we'll come running. You should probably stop by sometime too so we can work out some strategies."
