When it came down to a pair of trained fighters, one using a state of the art combat powersuit and the other with centuries of experience against a barely trained militia with top heavy weapons there was little to no contest. The more cowardly Quarrymen fled first, snatching up whatever they could save but mostly dropping the unsecured items as they made for the doors. The next where the combatants who'd balked on actually being in a fight for the first time. Then the veterans finally couldn't take any more punishment and staggered after their companions, leaving Xanatos and Macbeth alone in the warehouse. The helmet scanners picked up a burn from the Scotsmans back where the hammer had hit.
"You're wounded." A statement rather than a question. David opened a panel from his belt and pulled out a small medical pack. "Try this. Quick seals, treats burns and cleans any infection."
For all the times Xanatos had encountered Macbeth he'd never had any properly researched details in the former kings immortality and how it affected his healing. Not many would consider the businessman moral or trustworthy, detective Maza would split her sides laughing at that suggestion, but for someone who was keen on living forever he respected Macbeth more as an ally than a scientific curiosity. That and any immortality that required a bond with Demona or came from the Weird Sisters, a trio who played a long and twisted game with every action, was more of a curse than a blessing.
"We could call it a night." Clearing out the Quarrymen was a good cause, but not if it cost a friends health. Of course Xanatos would phrase it more as securing a long term investment over short term gain, but Macbeth was too wise for any double talk. "Once word gets out they'll give this place a wide berth."

Macbeth was enjoying himself. It had been quite some time since he'd done anything like this, but he hadn't lost any of the edge he'd honed over several hundred years. Oh, perhaps he was a little bit slower than when he'd been doing this sort of thing every day, but in general, it seemed as though almost no time had passed since he'd been fighting Duncan's forces. At least, in the hand-to-hand aspect. Technology had certainly progressed. But Macbeth's skill remained as sharp as ever.
Once the Quarrymen had dispersed, Macbeth took the kit that Xanatos offered to him, putting it over the wound on his collarbone. Non-fatal injuries like this healed at the same rate as any normal person's; it was the injuries that would have been fatal, had he been mortal, that required accelerated healing.
"I've had much worse," he told Xanatos even as he used what was in the medical pack on his wound, "This is just a scratch." He patched himself up nonetheless, though; even he could get sick, under the right circumstances.
"Aye, we could call it a night. Or we could head back to the Eyrie building and track these pests back to their nests." It was rare that Macbeth went anywhere without several tracker beams handy; attach the beam to an electric pistol, switch it on, and fire it at the target and voila! instant tracking. It was quite clever, really, if he did say so himself. But when Demona was the foe one faced the most often, one learned to improvise.

While Macbeth patched himself up, David used one of his wrist beams to incinerate or melt the leftover equipment that the retreating Quarrymen had left behind. Weapons, paperwork, money and other supplies. Hopefully the losses would delay any plans intended by at least this cell, if not others who relied on this base. In the meantime the former King seemed ready to continue with another few rounds, apparently having tagged a few opponents whilst fighting them.
"Ever the avid hunter. I suppose a few of the new royals have had you over for some sport already? What frequency are your tags transmitting on?"
Heading back to the tower wasn't necessary. By inputting the tags into the instruments in his suit Xanatos could track them on the move. A red overlay covered his heads up display with the path of the fleeing Quarrymen marked in yellow, plus a map of the Manhattan streets in the top corner showing several dots moving in various directions. On the way out of the building David continued tapping on the small keyboard in his gauntlet, sending an anonymous message to the NYPD. They had no love for the Quarrymen either, but would probably think that Goliath and his group did all the work. Or at least they would until Detective Maza put the details together. David found some amusement at her possible reactions to finding out that he was performing some nighttime vigilantism, not that she could prove anything for certain given Coyote and Xanatos were considered separate entities since he first took over the Pack and broke them out of prison.
"Towards the subway, river and park." He relayed the details to his comrade in arms. "any preference?"

The former King knew he should have expected Xanatos' technology to outstrip his own, but he'd come from a time when there had been none. He'd learned to adapt over the years, but there were still times he didn't think of the most expedient way. Mostly in situations like this. After all, he did his best to try to think of just about every possibility as quickly as he could. He'd had to, over the years, with a foe like Demona.
At Xanatos' words about his frequency, Macbeth double-checked exactly which frequency on which his tracker was transmitting. He relayed the information to Xanatos, considering what the best course of action would be. They could follow the tracker beams and find the Quarrymen that had escaped them; that was the first inclination they had both had, it seemed. But would that be the best overall?
Or should they alert the proper authorities so that someone could get to the bottom of these villains? Would their vigilantism really do much other than put fuel on the fire that the Quarrymen had against the Gargoyles? For all they knew, the Quarrymen that had escaped would blame the destruction of their cell on the Gargoyles. Stranger things had happened, after all.
"We should be careful that we're not making things worse, old friend," he said, pondering.
((OOC: Talk about a bad post. :/ I am so sorry, Daryl. I think I got lost partway through.))

"Maybe we should leave this for the NYPD. You've always known best about when to pick battles."
Xanatos shut down his scanner for now, resolving to take the logs later and leak them to Detective Maza in some manner. With any luck the Quarrymen would at least waste some time trying to track down the Pack for retribution and take the heat off of the Clan. Maybe a sociopath cyborg sister, psychopathic cyborg brother, genetically enhanced wolfman aided by a viking ghost and a weapons expert survivalist would at least thing their numbers some if they came looking for a fight. Too many attacks in one night might just rally them against David and MacBeth.
"How about a drink? I at least owe you some proper hospitality after your help tonight."
The building over the tunnel was conveniently nearby and there weren't any straggling Quarrymen to follow them inside. The tunnel led back to the elevator and from there back to David's office where he removed his helmet and put out a pair of glasses and a wine bottle before removing the rest of his armour. The gauntlet was connected to the desktop computer to upload the data from the battle earlier and David sat down to take some well earned relaxation.
"With any luck we've at least diverted their attention to other factions for now. Thank you for the help. I must say it was refreshing to perform some hands on work again."

At Macbeth's words, his ally suggested that perhaps they leave this fight, such as it was, to the proper authorities. He even deferred to Macbeth's greater knowledge of when to choose his battles and when to leave well enough alone. Macbeth had to admit, he was impressed by Xanatos' quick consideration and swift reasoning; here was a man who could have been a great ruler, if he'd been in a different time period. As it was, he was still a great leader, and Macbeth respected him for that. It was difficult, nowadays, to find the stuff of true greatness in others.
Xanatos offered the former King a drink, and he readily accepted. He could use a bit of relaxation after the night's .... festivities.
"It was my pleasure," he said, waving off Xanatos' thanks. "I try to do some good, where I can, and those Quarrymen aren't just bad for the Gargoyles." No, if people like that started to get together, to think that they could do anything they wanted with no consequences, they would want more power. And in a group, they would feel safe enough to do just about anything to take that power. No, it was better that they fear retribution for their actions; they were more likely to leave well enough alone, in that case. At least, that's how it had been the last time Macbeth had dealt with a group like this. But there was simply no telling what would happen. All they could do was fight back and hope for the best.
He accepted the glass of wine that Xanatos offered him, taking a moment to savor the bouquet; this was good stuff.
"Now, about this television deal I've made with you," he said, sitting back in his chair so that he could relax while they discussed. "Is it going to be a nightly spot? Or is it weekly?" He was going to have to figure out something to do every night, if it was on every evening. Plus, he'd have to start figuring out guest slots and getting hold of the people that could do some real damage to the Quarrymen's reputations.
((OOC: Ugh, terrible post is terrible. I need to rewatch the City of Stone arc. :/ ))

"Gargoyles, fairies, centaurs, knights of the round table, talking animals." Xanatos mused on MacBeth's statement about the Quarrymen. "They have their pick of newcomers to brand as monsters. When we can't beat them in battle we'll have to beat them in educating the public. Thankfully I've just signed up a man who knows both arenas well."
Unfortunately, despite the years of mythical goings on, Manhattan was inexperienced when it came to magical happenings. The Gargoyles had kept their battles as urban legends for some time until their public outing and so New York was pretty much a novice in the affairs of the new world. Hopefully the programming that Xanatos company would broadcast could educate them in other matters and make them less fearful of the other Isles and Kingdoms. If it promoted a little tourism and could be used against his enemies then that was a bonus.
"How about weekly for now?" David offered. "I wouldn't want to cut into the travels that you're obviously going to partake in. Lot of new ground to cover and old places you want to revisit."
The work could be planned around the immortal King's schedule. They could even record a few shows ahead of time if he intended to take a longer trip to one of the other Isles. Maybe Xanatos and Fox might even join him, since he'd helped them out in their world it was only fair to try things his way.
"To a brave new world old friend?" Xanatos offered a toast.
ooc: This is short, terrible and I deserve a kicking for it, sorry.

Xanatos confirmed that, yes, the show would be weekly, to start out, something that pleased Macbeth. It would be much easier to plan that sort of thing out on a weekly basis as opposed to nightly. Plus, they were less likely to bore the public if they kept their information a bit more spread out.
Macbeth appreciated the fact that Xanatos realized that he would want to travel this new world, revisiting old haunts, as well as discovering new lands. In fact, he already had a few in mind. He just had to get there, of course. But with the ferry systems, that would be the least of his worries, it appeared.
"Thank you for that, old friend," Macbeth said, taking a sip of his wine. It was a good thing that Xanatos was already planning for his travels to other realms, otherwise, he would have had to decline his most gracious offer to help educate the public.
Xanatos offered a toast to a brave, new world, and the former King couldn't help the rueful smile that slipped onto his face. He had been around when that book had been written, and he had been around to see that much it had predicted had come to pass. Hopefully, there would not be a similar outcome with the Gargoyles.
"To a brave, new world," he said nonetheless. But they had their work cut out for them, to sway opinion in favour of the Gargoyles.
David Xanatos: Kat's back. Hope the vacation was fun.
