When Sally scolded Bob, the phantom horse backed up. Jack swayed with the movement but otherwise didn’t seem to notice as he looked through his things. “Ah! Here it is.” Jack produced a leather-bound notebook and jumped down so he was standing with the others again. He flipped through a few pages— past notes and sketches and equations— and finally came to a map that was clearly still in process.
Jack held the notebook so Wildwing could see, as well as Sally too if she decided to come closer. He pointed a boney finger at a little drawing of Spiral Hill and a pumpkin. Below it “Halloween Town” was scrawled in Jack’s scratchy hand. “This is our home. We came south east, through an enchanted forest.” He marked their path with his finger. “There was a crossroad here, but no sign, so we kept going straight. Eventually we came to a huge kingdom.” Here Jack had drawn a castle and a mirror, because that had been on many of the banners. “There was a ferry going across the sea, so we took it to the Isle of the Statue.”
Jack explained how they had visited New York and a few other cities on that isle before coming to the Isle of the Pen, where they currently were.
He looked to Wildwing. “Our travels have no set destination… we are only trying to see as much as we can before we must return home. Where would you recommend we head next?”
Wildwing now took note of the mid-air shrub that "Bob" had been thoroughly munching. Considering everything else that had happened tonight, it was honestly one of the *least* strange things he'd laid eyes on.
A small, steady stream of chuckles. "It's fine, really," he said, waving it off as the laughing subsided. "We replace those about every month anyway. Chomp away."
Now he paid more attention to Jack, who had brought out the map. It was crude to a certain extent, but he supposed that was really part of its charm, and Jack did seem to have a knack for details.
He considered the question, putting a hand on his chin. "Well, to be honest, this is a pretty good place to explore," he admitted. Since the other areas had opened up, he and his team had mostly traveled among them, especially since there were others like them to a certain degree rather than just humans. "Anaheim's pretty great for tourists, the House of Mouse is good if you want good dinner shows, Duckburg and St. Canard are fun, and if you want to meet some real weirdos, you can head over to the Land of Wuz."
That one still confused and somewhat terrified him existentially, even if the locals were more or less friendly on a good day.

Despite Wildwing's reassurances that Bob's impromptu foraging was fine, Sally couldn't help but feel embarrassed for the phantom horse's behavior. She frowned up at the invisible head of their steed, deciding whether or not to stay crisp, but he leaned down and nuzzled her hair with his unseen lips. Smiling in spite of herself, Sally shook her head and gave Bob a pat on the neck. "Fine," she muttered to him. "I forgive you."
About that time Jack triumphantly reemerged from the back of the hearse with his map. Sally let Bob be, hoping that the apple contented him enough that the surrounding greenery wasn't at risk anymore. She had watched Jack work on his map several times during the journey, and even been asked to give advice here and there, but she never tired of looking it over. She liked recalling the adventures they'd already had in each location listed.
Sally listened fondly while Jack explained their trip so far. When he asked for Wildwing's advice going forward, she turned bright, inquisitive eyes onto their avian host. He started to answer, and as his list grew longer and longer, Sally glanced curiously at Jack. All of the prospects were exciting, but a little overwhelming, too. They'd have to select their agenda carefully in order to make it back to Halloween Town before preparations for the upcoming holiday came too close.
Something about the peculiar last thing that Wildwing listed made Sally tilt her head. "I wonder what a 'Wuz' is?" she asked, brow furrowed.

Wildwing mentioned a few nearby cities that sounded promising, but Jack would confer with Sally before they made any decisions. As interesting as those cities seemed, they had quite a ways to go. There were many more Isles out there to explore.
Sally voiced one of Jack’s own questions. He looked at her and gave a little shrug of his boney shoulders to indicate he didn’t know. “It sounds terrifying.” He said this as if he were quite excited to meet it if it was.
Once Wildwing had finished looking at the map, Jack tore out a page of his notebook and began to hastily sketch out a copy for their new friend, taking great care to show what roads to take to get to Halloween Town once one arrived at the Isle of the Crown.
Once his map was complete, he passed it to Wildwing and carefully stowed his book and the communication device back in his trunk. “Here. Again, we do hope you visit.” Jack paused, considering. “Although… the best time would be after Halloween. Once we get back everyone will be very busy making preparations.” It would be difficult for Jack to give Wildwing a proper welcome while in the thick of Holiday planning.
Jack turned to Sally and smiled down at her. “What do you think, Sally? Should we rest here tonight or press on?” They had been traveling for a few days now and they’d made camp in a number of different locations. The parking lot of an ice rink would suit, if they chose to stay.
"It's a place where everyone is these...." What had Tanya called them? "...mutations between two different animals." A bit harsh, perhaps, but it was the most accurate description he could think of.
And Jack was correct, they were more than a little scary and unnerving despite mostly being friendly.
He accepted the map graciously. "It sounds like you have a lot of work to do," he observed. "I'll definitely try and stop by after Halloween." He knew Phil had some kind of plan cooking for that, but there was no reason that they couldn't potentially do both.
He let out a yawn as Jack considered what to do next. "You guys seem to enjoy the night life, but if I were you, I'd rest up if you're still gonna be traveling a lot in the next few days. Not safe to drive while you're tired." Even in a....ghostly hearse.
"I should be getting back to bed too," he noted, rotating his shoulders and hearing the crack of bones. This would certainly be an interesting story to share with the others in the morning, but he also had a long day ahead of him in that regard. Practice, looking for signs of the Saurians, and anything else the universe decided to throw at them.
"It was a real pleasure to meet you two," he said, turning to leave with a final wave.
(OOC: y'all can wrap this up if you want to? I feel like I've done everything I want to in the thread)

Jack answered her thinking aloud with a shrug and a mutter of excitement. Sally had to agree that, based on the description that Wildwing proceeded to give about Wuz's, they sounded as terrifying as Jack was hoping they'd be. Mutations between two different animals? Sally would have to think, but off the top of her head, she didn't think even Halloween Town had monsters of that unique nature.
With the matter of Wuz's managed, Jack began copying what Wildwing would need to get from the rink they stood beside to Halloween Town if ever he had the mind. Once Jack tucked his things (including the new device for communication that had been given to them) back in the hearse, Sally drew up alongside him, slinging both arms sideways around his narrow waist.
"Oh, I do hope that you visit," Sally said encouragingly to Wildwing, when he said he would try after Halloween. Jack peered slightly down at her, asking if they should stay put for the evening or move on. Wildwing offered his advice, and Sally thought that it wise. She nodded. "Rest sounds good."
Wildwing mentioned returning to bed himself, wheeling around, and gave a casual farewell over his shoulder. "Thank you so much for your hospitality! It was wonderful meeting you," she called after their impromptu host. Once he was gone through the doors of the rink, Sally smiled at Jack. "Well, that went better than New York Town."
