Time passes much more quickly in Rohandor and many long and happy years have gone by since the characters retired to enjoy their respective 'happily ever afters,' their greatest foes were imprisoned in the Forever Stone, bound in an eternal sleep. Until Now.
Happily Ever Afters takes place in Rohandor, a mystical realm on another plane of existence from our own. Participating Characters:Moana ,Jim Hawkins Forum Location: The Ocean, Other Locations Time of Day: Early Afternoon Weather: Clear, Sunny Thread Location: a small, uninhabited island Premise: Jim has technical difficulties while flying to another large Island of Rohandor
Jim sat back in the sand, his hands covered in grease. He absently pushed his hair out of his eyes, leaving a dark smudge on his forehead. Glaring at the innards of his solar surfer, he finally let himself wonder what he would do if he couldn’t fix it.
Tilting his head back, Jim shielded his eyes from the bright sunlight. The streak of smoke he’d made across the sky while he landed (crashed) had almost completely faded now.
This was not good.
He’d been on his way to the Isle of the Beast, flying above the clouds on his solar surfer, when a loud bang had come from the engine, followed by smoke— lots of smoke. He had lost altitude fast and would have crashed into the ocean had Jim not spotted the island nearby. He’d gone down at an angle in the shallow surf and he’d rode the board like a surf board to the sandy beach before collapsing in the soft sand in relief.
Except now, after a good hour of working on the engine, Jim was starting to realize that he just might not fly off this island after all. It was small and he was sure no one else lived there. He had not seen any ships or aircraft either.
What if he ended up like B.E.N.? Stuck here for years and years, slowly going crazy?
With that thought, Jim turned back to the engine with renewed determination. He wasn’t going to give up yet.

Moana had been sailing toward a small, as yet unexplored island when she heard the noise – something that matched the roar of an erupting volcano. It had caused Pua to dive into the hold of her drua, taken by instantaneous and abject fear, and her to wheel on the spot, looking for the tell-tale plume of ash and rock that would decide the path she would have to take – any that lead away from the raging source. Her heart had leapt into her mouth, though she saw no darkening on the horizon – and she took some solace in that. Fast as her boat was, and as talented a sailor she was, she couldn't outrun the destructive power of Lua pele if it was close.
When, after minutes, there was still no dark cloud of smoke and ember to blot out the sky, she let out a soft sigh, feeling her body untense. Dropping into a sitting position, she pushed hair from her face and wiped her brow. Letting her head drop back, eyes closed, she smiled, before a shadow passed overhead. Cracking her eyelids, she saw a strange shape streak across the sky – something that looked oddly akin to a boat – trailing fire. It was plummeting, falling, toward the island to which she was headed.
Blinking, she leapt to her feet, and sprinted to the other end of her sail barge, staring after the rapidly descending contraption with unabashed curiosity. In the distance, the Montonui chieftain saw it hit the island's sands, and after skidding across it, collapsed. With it still, Moana noted it looked even more like a ship – and where there was a ship, there was someone to operate it; someone whose craft had seen better days.
Moana had been stranded before, and knew how miserable it was. Biting her lip, she very quickly made the decision to investigate (not that Pua would be overly thrilled), and moved back to her rudder and sail – using both to guide the drua closer to shore.
With the sea breeze strong as it was, it didn't take long to reach her destination, and running her boat up onto the shore – jumping into the shallows and pushing it more fully onto the sand to stop her craft being swept away by the tide – she grabbed both Heihei and Pua, tucked her companions under each arm, and then ran toward the wreckage.
“Hello?” she called as she got closer, not catching sight of the greasy boy lost in the machine's engine.

Jim tightened another bolt and gave the engine a doubtful glare. This would have been easier if Silver had been there. His mechanical arm had quite a few tools, including a welding torch, that would have really come in handy now. Thinking of the old sea dog, Jim’s glare softened into a sad frown. He didn’t let himself think about Silver often… but since coming to Rohandor Jim couldn’t help but wonder if Silver had been caught up in the magic too or if he’d been far enough away to avoid it all together. Jim wasn’t sure which one to hope for.
Hello?
Jim’s brow furrowed at the sound of a voice. He shifted on his knees and sat up to peer over the side of his solar surfer, squinting in the harsh sunlight. He lifted a hand to shield his eyes.
A girl? … With a pig. …And a chicken. Running toward him.
Jim’s eyes glanced past her, to the small ship. As she came closer, Jim pushed himself to his feet, wiped the sweat from his brow on his sleeve, and waved at her with his other hand that still held a wrench. Jim could see now that she was close to his age.
“Uh… hey...?” Jim looked again at the chicken, then at the girl’s face. Was this what it was like to see a mirage? Was he imagining a pretty girl on a beach with farm animals? Was it possible he was ALREADY going crazy?
At that moment the wrench in his hand shivered and transformed into a fist-sized pink blob. Morph wagged his blobby tail excitedly. "uh-hey uh-heyhey!" He floated by Jim's shoulder, happy to meet someone new. Jim grabbed the blob out of he air and held him in his hands. If Morph could see her, she was definitely real. He gave her a somewhat sheepish smile. "Sorry. I mean-- Hi. I'm Jim. Is this your island?"
Moana skidded to a stumbling halt as the formerly unseen ship's captain rose from the wreckage, his figure – for she very quickly noticed it was a 'he' – appearing from behind the craft's rather odd looking sail. Wiping his wrist across his forehead, slick with sweat and dirt, he waved at the chieftain of Motonui with his free hand, the other holding something the young woman had never seen before in her life – a strage, two pronged fork.
Uh...hey... he said uncertainly, looking between her and Heihei, who stared rather blankly back. Pua, on the other hand, eyed the stranger with great suspicion, and most clearly wasn't impressed with their proximity to him. Not that Moana took any notice – she was used to her companion's nervousness and knew that, so long as they came under no direct threat, he would quickly overcome it.
Raising a hand awkwardly – for it was not easy to wave carrying animals – Moana used her hip to trap Heihei against her arm, and waved back. “Hey.”
Something happened then that caused the sea-farer's eyes to widen, before blinkng to clear her vision as the odd fork the boy held wibbled, transforming into something that would not have been out of place in the ocean's depths – a shivering mass of gelatinous goop that could make sound, and swam through the air as if travelled through water. It copied the words uttered by the humans – and Moana felt her jaw drop a little, and Pua squeaked in surprised, wriggling in her grip.
Releasing him, he dropped onto the sand and hid behind the chieftan's legs, peering out from behind her skirts.
Then, a huge smile spread over Moana's face. She couldn't help but beam at the being's cheery disposition – and continued to do so as the boy introduced himself as Jim. Biting her lip a little, she looked between the pair: both new to her, the clothes he wore as peculiar as the creature that he now held in his hands.
“I'm Moana,” she replied, “Chieftain of Motonui.” Gesturing to the wreckage next to them, she shook her head a little in answer to his query. “We were exploring the ocean and saw your boat... capsize.” At least, she assumed capsizing was the right word for an airborne ship to turn and land face down in the sand. Flicking her eyes over the stranded individuals once more, she looked for any noticable injuries. “Are you hurt?”

The girl’s surprise over Morph’s reveal didn’t last long. A wide, unchecked smile spread across her face and Jim felt himself smiling in return. He’d found that most of Rohandor didn’t know what to do with Morph. He was just too strange for many of them. This girl, however, had obviously seen more of the world than most if a blobby pink alien wasn’t enough to phase her.
Morph had been screamed at on more than one occasion, so when the girl smiled at him he burbled happily at her. “I’m Moana!”
“Motto-noo-ee…?” Jim said the word with a slight lift of his voice, almost phrasing it as a question. He didn’t think he was saying it right. When Moana asked if he was hurt, Jim shook his head. He stepped up on the edge of the surfer and slid down its other side, coming to stand on the sand before her. “You saw me crash, huh?” Jim glanced up, noting the trail of smoke was now completely faded from the sky. “That’s lucky for us. I was starting to think we were going to be stuck here for a while."
Morph was staring at Pua with great interest. The blob began to strain in Jim’s hands, wanting closer, practically vibrating with eagerness. Jim let Morph go and the blob floated down to Pua, chattering away. Then he twisted himself into a mirror image of Pua, though perhaps one-sixth the size. The tiny pig floated before the real one expectantly.
Jim ignored Morph and remained focused on Moana. “Any way we could hitch a ride with you to one of the larger islands?” He’d have to take a look at her boat, but maybe they could even latch his busted surfer onto the side and take that too. That is, of course, if she agreed. She certainly didn’t have to help him and he had nothing to barter with.
