Princess Anna didn't rightly care that her reaction wasn't the most graceful, considering her station. She was too busy steeping on what Basil had just explained, and the implications that it had on Arendelle. Elsa moved in swiftly to elaborate, which was for the best. Anna tended to ramble, or flavor topics overmuch with her own opinions and interpretations whereas Elsa would approach things more expediently, and authoritatively. During the queen's brief summary of their previous struggles, Anna entertained with a cruel kind of hope that maybe Hans hadn't been included in whatever phenomenon had spirited Arendelle away from its former place. Knowing their luck, that wasn't likely.
Elsa hinged for a moment after her detailing of events, and then tacked a quiet comment onto the end. The content of this brought Anna from her icy thoughts; which was for the best. It was quite out of character for Anna to behave so vehemently. Or decidedly in-character, all that Hans had done to Elsa and herself considered. Whatever the case, the queen's uncertain admission brought a splash of surprise onto Anna, quickly followed by a tired sort of resignation and scorn. The reassurance that Queen Elsa was seeking in her sister she undoubtedly found, along with a look that made it obvious Anna thought that Elsa was silly for even needing it.
Basil broke in before Anna had the chance, and the princess found that she was liking this mouse more and more with each passing moment. She smiled down at Basil, quietly grateful for what he said. Maybe, in a way, his opinion on Elsa would make more of an impact than what she could offer? Then, a touch more seriously: "She means that I provoked her into doing something that was - at first - out of her control, unintentionally, but that she corrected. If you're a villain, then I'm one too," she looked in challenge at Elsa. Basil's prompting for any questions brought a furrow to the princess' brow.
"What you said... about villains. It sounded like we wouldn't just have Hans to worry about anymore." Anna looked at Basil for confirmation, urging him with her eyes to expound on that, and quietly wishing that the truth wouldn't be what she feared.

Life's too short to never let you see who I am, the queen of the ice and snow.

Elsa could almost feel herself blush at how quickly and vehemently this small mouse visitor had grown defensive of her. Basil was so quick to tell her she was being ridiculous she didn't even know how to respond. She supposed most predominantly she felt grateful. Maybe she was being too hard on herself... She had certainly been doing everything in her rather substantial power both magical and political to right everything that had been wrong in Arendelle.
Elsa gave a half-hearted smile at her sister as she too jumped to her defense though she was the one with the most reason to hate and fear her. Even after almost killing her twice and a lifetime of shutting her out, Anna's well of forgiveness seemed deep as ever. She again thought about how much she didn't deserve that kind of unconditional love and forgiveness. Then again, there was a lot of things she hadn't felt like she deserved.
Shoving all thoughts aside she focused back on the situation at hand allowing further discussion of her alignment to drop. Now that they'd figured out what had happened to the kingdom, Anna was right to ask about these other threats that they might be facing. Elsa wasn't too terribly concerned considering how she'd managed to freeze her entire kingdom but since she still didn't have a solid understanding of her abilities and didn't want to freeze the summer again- or kill anyone no matter how bad they might be- she hoped it wouldn't come to her using them again anytime soon.
She exchanged a concerned glance with her sister before looking back to Basil and waited for his response to her sister's inquiry.

Whatever had happened between the sisters to convince Elsa of her villainy had only steeled her as a heroine in the eyes of Anna. The detective could tell that the two of them had faced trials and tribulations together and separately, having conquered them in some form and come out better because of it. For now he decided to let the matter drop, noting the slightest discomfort they displayed, getting back to the diplomatic task at hand.
Elsa seemed to defer to Anna's question over the potential of villains besides this Hans scoundrel, leaving Basil to take a short breath in preparation for his answer.
"There are, many villains your Highness-es. For every hero in each kingdom who ever fought for right, there is a player on the opposite side of the board standing against all they hold to be true and just. They are unorganised so far, but like the Council I represent they are forming alliances. Some of them have even began travelling outside familiar lands to test their mettle against lands, kingdoms and people who have no experience in dealing with them. Technology against history, magic against logic, strategy against strength."
Perhaps he should have toned it down, but it was taking all of the mouse's energy not to leap up on the nearest table and declare Professor Ratigan the most fiendish of all the villains. To tell each story of the Tower Bridge heist, the drowning of widows and orphans, his failed coup of mousedom and many more. For once though, he managed to restrain his fervour.
"However, the Council and her allies are more than willing to share any intelligence on their respective rogues for your perusal. No villain will ever defeat a well prepared opponent who knows their moves ahead of time."
The princess could see that their whiskered visitor was preparing for an explanation that was bound to be complicated and lengthy. During the moments that the Detective took to gather himself, Anna shifted into at once a more attentive and more comfortable position. Without even thinking on it, she extended a hand and caught one of Elsa's gently. Anna gave her sister's slender fingers a gentle squeeze of reassurance. She was a little nervous for what Basil was going to say. Even so, Anna believed with all of her heart that there was nothing she and Elsa couldn't overcome. Together.
From the very first sentence in answer that the Detective phrased, things did not sound good. Anna didn't know how many other lands were part of this strange new realm they now found themselves in, but for each of them - from what Basil said - there would be at least one villain. Hans had been dangerous and treacherous enough by himself. The thought of these characters potentially organizing themselves was a sobering one.
Anna had even considered that, if it was just Hans attempting to usurp Arendelle a second time, they would easily stop him. Basil went on to say that villains were making their presence known in places that would give them unfair advantages to exploit. Some of the words confused the princess that the mouse used. Yet, the one that would have bee most difficult to accept as truth Anna was already a firm believer in: magic. If she had a sister who was an example of this most extraordinary and outlandish thing, then any other oddity that came along would be easy to accept. Maybe not understand, but accept.
Basil ended his answer by assuring the two royals that the Council he represented was intent on sharing information, among other things, to better prepare any virtuous denizen of - what was it called? Oh, yes - Rohandor. Anna was struggling over this tidal wave of information. She felt the need to go lay down with a nice, thick sandwich and attempt to wrap her mind around all of these revelations later. She had a duty, though. To her people and especially her sister. Anna felt that Elsa was smarter than her by default, but even the queen must have been grappling with the enormity of all of this.
Anna looked to Elsa after Basil had finished and smiled lopsidedly, shrugging her shoulders to convey that she didn't like the situation, either. Things would have been so much easier if the fog banks hadn't rolled in and transplanted their homeland somewhere entirely new. Then again, had that not happened they wouldn't have met Basil, and if he was an example of what other noble and interesting peoples they now had the opportunity to meet, maybe this transition would be best for their kingdom in the long run?
"Whatever happens, we'll manage," Anna said quietly to Elsa. "We have each other."

Elsa locked eyes with her sister and smiled a faint hopeful smile at her. Anna's eternal optimism was something she didn't think she was ever going to get used to. Her memories of her sister from when they were children foreshadowed so much of the woman her younger sibling had grown into. Always so full of joy, hope, and belief that anything was possible. As much as her judgment could be a little skewed because she always looked for the good in people, Elsa envied that about her. She'd always lived in a world where she couldn't even trust herself. It must be liberating to just assume best of everyone and every situation. Not have doubts constantly gnawing at the edges of the mind.
She reached out and took Anna's hand and gave it a squeeze before releasing it again. The warmth of another's touch still felt strange and foreign against her own skin, but welcome. It was a state of constant reminder she lived in that it was okay now. She had learned enough about her abilities that her touch wasn't going to instantly freeze off someone's limb or unintentionally hurt them with her magic. But it was still hard to get used to. Undoing a lifetime of taught behavior was going to take longer than just a few days.
Elsa wanted to do what was best for her people and if they were in some new land, which seemed more and more likely, she wanted to keep peace and normalcy as much as possible until they could fall into some kind of routine and assure the people of Arendelle that she was worthy of her birthright and title. Even though only days before she'd been ready to throw it all away, now that all the cards were on the table she wanted to do her best to make her parents proud of her. Even though they were gone, she still felt like she needed to prove herself.
"We'll have to send someone of our own to meet with this Council you speak of." Elsa told Basil with a gentle smile. She wasn't sure when that would be or who would go, but it seemed in their best interest to examine their situation from every angle. "Anna," She let her gaze shift to her sister as she carefully rose back to her feet, "I have to... get back to work. Would you please show our guest to somewhere more comfortable? Get him and his companion food or a room in the palace if he wishes?"
Elsa had no idea how long the mouse had traveled. She looked back down at Basil, "You're welcome to stay here as long as you need. Thank you for your messages and kind welcome." Elsa trusted Anna enough to ask any of the questions she might have forgotten. She cared for their people and their welfare just as much as Elsa did. For now though, she had a feeling she had quite a bit of soothing to do to get this handful of advisors and nobles to calm down from another impending panic.
[Exit Elsa]
