Iago was mercifully silent, for once. That blasted bird had made a bad situation even worse. He was constantly moving around and getting in the way; their shared living space was minuscule. Jafar, at least, didn't have a bloody beak to contend with. The bird kept invading his space, which was not all right with Jafar.
He needed to get out of this lamp. There was far too much for him to do to remain in such a cramped space with such an annoying companion for the rest of eternity.
Of course, when he did get out of the lamp, it would be because he had, Jafar shuddered, a Master. The former Vizier hated the idea of being subservient to whomever found his lamp; he would have to do that person's bidding, even if he was more intelligent than they. It was just like serving that dunce of a Sultan except he didn't have any choice, now that he was a genie.
Jafar couldn't wait to get his revenge on the streetrat; he had taken the place that should be Jafar's!
Even the thought of what Aladdin had done made Jafar's blood boil.
But he couldn't afford to let anger get the best of him; he had to formulate some sort of plan, a way to get back at the boy.
He was going to strip Aladdin of everything he loved and then he was going to kill him.
Once that was accomplished, and when he was human again, he'd be looking for more power, different power that didn't shackle him to some lamp.
Iago shifted again and the bird's shrill voice sounded in Jafar's ears.
The former Vizier sighed and rolled his eyes, trying to block out the wretched parrot. He could not get out of this lamp soon enough.
The heat was starting to get to her, Narissa thought. She had already spent far too long wandering the blistering sands searching for something from a mere rumour.
But if the rumour was true, she reminded herself, it would be more than worth the trouble. Power beyond anything she could ever possess on her own. Power enough to take back Andalasia far more easily than her original plans had dictated. Raising a hand to shield her eyes from the blazing sun, the sorceress scanned the sand dunes ahead for any sign of the well that she had been told held the genie's lamp.
There. A dark, round shape in the distance. That must be it.
She couldn't wait. Time wasted simply walking to the well was time that someone else could use to make it there first. Even if there was no-one else around that Narissa could see.
"Speciosus formosis praeclarus!" She hissed, and flames flickered around her as she used her magic to transform into a large hawk. A few wingbeats later and she was beside the well. Muttering the incantation once more, she returned to her natural form.
The place utterly reeked of magic. Narissa smirked. She'd clearly found her genie.
Unfortunately, now she had to retrieve him from the well. And that meant manual labour. No sense wasting magical resources on a menial task, she'd need her power at full strength to get back to Andalasia. The smirk disappeared from her face and was replaced by a grimace as she started to pull on the rope which would draw the bucket, and hopefully the lamp, up to her.
Sure enough, the task was harder than it should have been, which meant that something other than water was in the pail she was pulling up. A few moments of struggling later, and there it was. Carefully, Narissa poured the filthy-looking water back into the well, leaving behind a gleaming black oil lamp at the bottom of the bucket. Her eyes lit up as she grabbed the lamp, holding it up for examination.
She took a few steps away from the well. Looking around furtively, she quickly rubbed the side of the lamp with a gloved hand and waited for the genie--her genie, now--to emerge.

Jafar was just about ready to start yelling at the blasted parrot (again) when he felt some sort of tug.
"Silence!" he snapped at Iago, wondering if it would come again.
And sure enough, there was another tug, more forceful, this time, and within seconds, Jafar was making his way out of the lamp in a thin line of smoke, which expanded to his genie-form, though tethered to the mouth of the lamp.
Finally, he had room. Without bothering to look around for whoever had rubbed the lamp (whoever it was was his new Master, after all), Jafar stretched widely, reveling in the feeling of being able to move.
As soon as the parrot emerged, Iago had flown away, deserting Jafar as he knew the wretched creature would, at the first available opportunity. To be honest, Jafar didn't think he'd miss him in the slightest. But now, in order to stay out of the lamp, he had genie-things to attend to, loathe though he might be to serve anyone.
Looking around, he located the person who had released him from the blasted lamp, noting that she was, in fact, rather attractive. And had power of her own. Which felt sinister. Hmm, maybe serving her wouldn't be quite so bad after all.
Well, that depended on what she wanted. He wasn't terribly keen on being used as a servant, but he could probably figure out a way to ... twist things to his advantage. Ugh, might as well get this over with as quickly as possible.
"You have released me from my prison," he said, his voice deep and carrying. "Because I am bound to the power of the lamp, you have three wishes." He was loathe to admit it, but the bond between lamp and genie forced him to disclose the rule of three.
The genie's exit from the lamp had been fairly impressive, though Narissa wasn't sure what to make of the parrot that had popped out with him. But the little creature was flying away now, so she decided to pay it no heed, instead focusing on what her genie was saying.
Her genie. She'd never get tired of the sound of that. He certainly seemed powerful. It was a different sort of power than she'd expected, more malevolent and wild, but that wasn't a bad thing.
In fact, the ex-queen was rather glad not to be dealing with the kind of bleeding-heart genie who'd probably try and guilt her into making 'good' wishes. This one, with his darker magic, would suit her perfectly.
"Three wishes..." Narissa repeated to herself, frowning. She'd forgotten about that limitation. It would undoubtedly complicate her plans. The wishes would have to be used wisely, sparingly. Making a soft noise of irritation, she turned her attention back to the genie.
"Any other rules I should know about? Limitations to what I can wish for, and all that? As my genie, I do believe you're obligated to tell me all about how our little arrangement works." The sorceress crossed her arms, cradling the lamp posessively. Just because she was the master of the lamp didn't mean that that control was secure yet, and she wasn't about to let even more power slip out of her grasp if she could help it.

The genie surveyed the woman who had freed him, eyeing her critically. Just because he thought that she was the sort of woman that might actually make use of his powers, someone who might be able to help him take his revenge didn't mean that he was correct in his assumptions.
The way that the woman held his lamp, however, spoke otherwise. She had an air of possession about the thing that Jafar would never have and he had to live in the blasted thing.
And then she asked what other limitations might be imposed upon her. The answer to which grated on Jafar rather fiercely. Because he was a genie, he could not strike the fatal blow to the streetrat.
Crossing his arms, he looked down at the woman, trying to take a measure of her before he answered.
"I cannot grant more than three wishes," he said, starting with the most basic of the 'rules.' "Nor can I kill anyone, the more's the pity."
Those two caveats were fairly standard, but it was the last one that might cause him to destroy himself if anyone even asked it of him. "I cannot, nor would I want to make people fall in love."
Due to the bond between genie and lamp, he had to answer the question his mistress asked of him, especially considering that it dealt with his powers.
The pause before the genie's answer would have been awkward, if it weren't for the fact that it allowed Narissa a chance to watch his mind work. He was appraising her, it seemed. Most likely sizing her up, searching for ways to manipulate her. Evidently this genie was not content to simply serve.
He'd be tricky to control, but perhaps control wasn't what was needed. Narissa would have to take extreme care in dealing with him, and not just in how she made her wishes. As if she had any patience or caution to give to this when the situation in Andalasia necessitated she hide every trace of her presence there.
She noted his answers with some satisfaction. So there was someone he wanted dead, too. Perhaps this genie wouldn't be so hard to manipulate after all.
"That's just as well. I'd rather have the satisfaction of killing them myself. And I'm not interested in making anyone fall in love, either."
Her lip curled into a faint sneer at the thought. The idea of using her powers, or her wishes, for anyone else's happiness was absurd. Although, she realized, she could always slip Edward's queen a love potion and make her go after someone else.
She tucked that nasty little idea away for the moment. Right now, her priority was figuring out how to work with the genie in front of her so that she could get exactly what she wanted. And figuring out what she wanted first.
"Now, I don't believe we were properly introduced." The sorceress smirked at him, her expression not quite friendly, but not malicious either. She would not let him take her for a fool. "I'm Queen Narissa of Andalasia. You may refer to me as 'madam' or 'milady' for now if you don't want to call me your mistress, which I doubt you do. And what can I call you? Besides 'genie', of course."
Jafar listened to the woman in front of him carefully, hearing the edge in her voice when she mentioned killing someone herself. What he wouldn't give to have that ability, to be able to wrap his own hands around that blasted urchin's throat, to watch as the breath left Aladdin's body, and to be able to crow triumphantly that he had destroyed his enemy himself; he hadn't had to rely on anyone else to do the deed.
"In that case, you and I shall get along fairly well," he intoned, still looking down at her in his genie-form.
Perhaps, for introductions, he should be more or less on her level.
Raising his hands over his head, there was a flash of bright light and red smoke and he materialized in front of her in his original, human form.
With a smirk and a half-sarcastic bow, the now human-appearing genie told the woman, "I am Jafar, at your service, madam." If he manage it, he wasn't going to be calling her 'madam' or 'milady' or 'mistress.' He wouldn't call her anything, if he could avoid it.
Of course he wasn't 'at her service' by choice; he was forced to serve the one who possessed his lamp, but that didn't mean he had to do it without sarcasm or his own sort of .... style.
The light blinded her for a few moments, but that wasn't the real reason Narissa was now blinking at the man before her. She hadn't known genies could change forms in that way. And the form he had chosen was... not unattractive. Quite the opposite, actually.
There was something in his eyes, now that she could see them better, that intrigued her. Intelligence, and a spark of something wicked. The same things she saw when she looked at herself in a mirror.
She smiled, and it was almost genuine. But only almost. Truths rarely served Narissa well.
"Oh, a shapeshifter. Very nice. Yes, I think we will get along well, Jafar." She took a moment to savour the name as she said it. It spoke of power and cunning, she thought. Hopefully not too much power or cunning, as she would need to have the upper hand eventually. But for now, perhaps they could form a sort of partnership instead.
"You don't strike me as someone made for servitude. I'm sure you'd rather be free to do as you please. Believe me, I understand that." She grinned at him, stepping closer.
"I'm going to offer you a deal. You grant me my wishes without using any of the little tricks you must have up your sleeve, no exploiting any loopholes in phrasing or anything like that. And in return, I'll do what I can to help make your wishes come true. How does that sound, hmm?"
Though Jafar no longer needed his snake staff to channel his magic, he preferred to carry it with him. He felt that it gave him ... a more menacing air. The streetrat and his friends had only served to confirm this assumption through the dealings he'd had with them.
The streetrat had even broken his staff, which still rankled. If it hadn't been for that boy, everything would have been fine. Everything would have gone according to his plan and he would now be ruling Agrabah, with the Princess Jasmine at his side.
The Princess was insufferable, but perhaps he could still rule Agrabah....., with a fit consort by his side.
Narissa's offer was quite tempting, and it was certainly better than essentially being a slave to the lamp and its master. They seemed to be like-minded people, after all, and if he helped her with what she wanted, she would help him. He could practically feel the dark of her magic rolling over him and it was intoxicating.
And clearly, she could tell that he would have tried to subvert any wish to his own advantage. This proposed deal seemed to have good terms, for the both of them.
"I have one condition," he said, stroking the head of his snake staff before taking a step closer to Narissa, so that they were almost touching. "My condition is simply that you allow me to call you by your name as opposed to .... other titles," his tone was noticeably darker on the last two words. He had served that idiot of a sultan for far too long, and he wouldn't be reminded of the fact that he was still not his own master.
"If you agree to that, then I believe we've got a deal," Jafar added, a smirk slipping onto his face. Oh, this day was turning out to be much better than he'd originally thought.
It took all of Narissa's self-control not to take a step back when he advanced. She would not be seen as weak. She would not back down. She was still the master of the lamp, even if she wasn't planning on treating her genie like a servant. And it wasn't as if she minded seeing Jafar up close and personal. There was something alluring about him, something other than the sheer power he so clearly possessed.
She had almost expected his request. It made sense--if he really was as similar to her as she thought, he would want to feel as though he was in control. An equal. Whether or not he was her equal remained to be seen, though from what she had seen of him so far, she suspected he could even surpass her.
Well, she wasn't keen on letting that happen. If her genie got too far out of line, she'd put him in his place, whether or not doing so would end their alliance.
But for now, the sorceress would go along with the genie's wish. "Very well. We have a deal." She didn't extend a hand for him to shake--just because she wasn't officially a queen anymore didn't mean Narissa wasn't going to act like she still was.
"Now, shall we get down to business? I've put some thought into my first wish already..."
How best to destroy Edward from within--that was something that had been on the former monarch's mind since her first day back in Andalasia. Finally, she'd come up with a truly vicious idea, one she thought Jafar would approve of. Her smirk mirrored his own as she thought of all the horrible things she had planned for her stepson.
"Excellent," Jafar said, smirking in response to her words. As much as he might want to be in control of this situation, he was now a genie; control didn't belong to him anymore. But at least he wouldn't have to call the woman anything like 'mistress' or 'milady.' He might end up calling her 'madam' at points, but that was simply respectful. And so far, she'd only given him cause for him to respect her.
Of course, that could all change in an instant. But, the two of them had a deal, and if she was going to help him rid the world of that streetrat, he would honor their agreement. Until either she went back on their pact or it suited him to do so.
Allowing his snake staff to disappear into thin air, a wicked smile appeared on Jafar's face at the thought of what this woman might wish. If they were as like-minded as he suspected, her first wish was bound to be something deliciously wicked.
"By all means, state your first wish," he told her, holding himself tall. He might be a slave to the lamp, but he still possessed phenomenal cosmic powers, for which many people would go to great lengths. If he ever became human again, he would certainly do his best to regain much of the power he would lose by the simple fact that he would no longer be a genie.
After all, he would still be a powerful sorcerer when he became human again, a fact for which he was grateful. It had taken him time to learn all of his skills and they had not disappeared with his humanity. So far, what had disappeared had been his mortality and any sense of obligation he might have felt to his former master.

She nodded, taking a deep breath in preparation. Despite their deal, Narissa wanted to make sure the wording of her first wish left no room for misinterpretation, willful or otherwise. Edward would suffer. He must. But, the thought occurred to her, why stop at Edward? She had an all-powerful genie at her disposal. Why limit herself to power over one when she could extend her reach to all the corners of Rohandor?
Some small voice in the back of her mind--perhaps a conscience--protested that magic had limitations for a reason, and despite how tempted she was, Narissa listened and obeyed. In a way, at least. "For my first wish! I wish to have the power to observe and influence the dreams of any human residing on the same Isle as I am at will." That ought to do it, she told herself. Power, yes, but not more than she thought she could handle. And a power that would certainly be used to torment Edward. She'd lived with the boy for years, and she knew he'd suffered from nightmares for a while after his father's death. Whether they persisted now was of no consequence--either way, she'd help bring them back.
A light gust of wind blew the desert sand around her feet, reminding her that she was still standing in open terrain. "I think before I make my second wish, we ought to go someplace else. Somewhere more protected. Shall we?" She knew she didn't technically have to ask Jafar's permission, but it was the polite thing to do, and Narissa was fast remembering all her lessons in diplomacy and etiquette now that she was at last in the presence of someone with obvious intelligence.
((OOC: I can change the wish to limit the scope of her power further if this is too godmod-y. Narissa really only intends to use it against Edward, but I thought having more options might spawn some other interesting plots))
There were so many deliciously wicked, wonderfully evil things that could be wished for, and all within the limitations that had been placed on him by the lamp. She could ask for so much, and he would be quite eager to grant her wishes, provided, of course, they were on the same wavelength as his own thoughts. He didn't think she'd ask for power; it was quite clear that she already had that, but there were so many other things she could ask for.
And sure enough, what she'd actually requested was delightfully full of malice. She wanted to be able to control the dreams of others. Dreams were supposed to be a private affair, something that was between a person's own subconscious and waking selves, and she wanted to be able to interfere. If he wasn't mistaken, that request had a reason behind it. And he felt sure that the intent was exactly the sort he'd have used for himself.
"Your wish is my command," he said with a bow, a knowing, sinister smirk on his long face. With a snap of his fingers and a flash of red, he bowed again, only straightening to add, "It is done as you have wished, Narissa." He just hoped that she would share her plans with him, if they were going to be ruining someone else's life. She was under no obligation to do so, of course, but it had been quite some time since he'd been able to plot someone's downfall.

A light smirk played about her own lips in response. She was enjoying this already. Having a genie at her command--and an intelligent, respectful, and most importantly, seemingly sympathetic one at that--gave her a feeling of power she hadn't felt since before her entrapment in the Forever Stone. The bowing was a very nice touch, Narissa thought. It had been far too long since anyone had bowed to her. But that would soon change, with Jafar's help.
"Excellent. Thank you, Jafar." Narissa purred, rubbing her hands together with glee as she imagined all the wicked ways she would use her new ability. She could hardly wait to test it out. But there was much still to be done before nightfall, and one task in particular was rather urgent. "Before we discuss anything further, I think we ought to find somewhere less exposed to talk. Better safe than sorry, after all."
True, they were essentially in the middle of nowhere, but there was no cover nearby as far as Narissa could see, and anyone might stumble upon them with ease--especially an idiot like Edward, who she could picture all too easily losing his way in a place like this and accidentally wandering into the middle of their conversation. It was imperative that her presence in Rohandor remain a secret known only to a trusted few for the time being.
But where to go? They could return to Andalasia, but opening the portal right now would be a drain on Narissa's still-slightly-depleted magical energy. But Jafar had been amicable thus far. so perhaps he could be persuaded into transporting them to her lair without the use of her second wish. She batted her eyelashes at him, hoping he'd understand the position she was in as he seemingly had before. "Say, would it be against the rules if you opened a portal to Andalasia without my wishing it? Or would that be a necessary and permissible bending of the rules in order to avoid wasting my second wish, do you think? I only ask because the desert heat is affecting me somewhat, and I'm not sure I have the strength just now to cast that powerful of a spell myself."
Oh, she was good. She was really good, offering him flattery and batting her eyelashes at him like that. If he'd been considering saying no to her request before, he certainly would have changed his mind by now. Jafar had always had a weakness for attractive women, and Narissa was by far the most interesting woman he'd met. She thought like he did, she was a Queen, and she possessed her own, dark powers; of course he was drawn to her.
"I think that can be arranged, my Queen," Jafar said with a smirk, deliberately choosing to use her title this time. It was different, a show of respect, since he was choosing to call her his Queen. After all, according to the terms of their deal, he didn't have to. But she'd flattered him, and he was returning the compliment.
Taking Narissa by the hand, Jafar transported them to a remote, hidden part of Andalasia, deep within the woods. Narissa hadn't said exactly where she wanted to go, after all, so he'd had to improvise. He'd made sure that there was no one in the area to which he'd transported them, but this would do for the moment.
"Or would you prefer a more specific location?" he asked, finally releasing Narissa's hand, glancing around. This place was completely different from the hot deserts he was used to; it would be quite the interesting change.
