Really, it was just like David to take something like their arrival in Rohandor all that time ago and turn it into something lucrative. With the world as they knew it severely altered, most if not all of Xanatos Enterprises affiliations, networks and business ties had been eradicated. Things as simple as their partners and suppliers were gone, and while that may have - and probably should have - toppled the company, it didn't. In record time new ties and agreements had been struck, new signatures signed and far too numerous contracts drafted to count. David had cast his web over the world before, and that had hardly changed with the earth being replaced by the realm of Rohandor. Xanatos Enterprises was every trying to establish relationships with other kingdoms for various things.
Not all of David's endeavors were fit to headline the newspaper, though. Just as before, he was interested in the secret and ancient things of the world, and now there were countless new realms and isles for the plundering... er... exploring. That was what brought a certain redheaded heiress to a particular forest that day. The Topaz Kingdom of the Lantern was one of the very newest additions to Rohandor. Only two others had arrived afterwards: the kingdoms DunBroch, and Arendelle. While David may entertain whatever pleasantries and media-worthy attempts at affiliation with the Kingdom of the Lantern, his wife was up to something of a different nature.
Fox had heard the tales directly related to this particular kingdom's princess. It wasn't as if the story was a safeguarded secret. Quite contrarily, the populace boasted it, and were proud of the valiance and virtue that could be found within it. Apparently, when the Queen of Corona was with child, she fell ill. Without any means to heal her, the people set out on a quest for a thing of legend; a flower thought to have grown from a drop of the sun with healing properties. The plant was found and used to heal the queen, inadvertently gifting the princess with miraculous powers of healing.
There was more to the little story than that, but not that Fox cared to remember. She just knew that there was a possibility - slim though it was - that one of those flowers somehow lingered in this kingdom. If she could just find it, there was no end to the possibilities that its cultivation could create. Fox knew of the grandeur that David tended to expedite, however secretly, on such errands - he had regaled her of events on the Isle of the Dragon only recently. Any who knew Fox, though (and indeed it was heavily hinted at by her name alone) knew that she had a much more subtle way of accomplishing things.
This was a scouting mission as far as Fox was concerned. One that needed to be accomplished covertly and quietly. She trusted no one more than herself to get the job done. Scouting also meant blending in with the scenery, though. Fox didn't intend on being caught, but she'd taken precautions in case that fate befell her. The woman was dressed in rustic attire that would look natural within the setting of the Kingdom of the Lantern. Rather than the dresses or girdles that were standard for women of the realm, though, Fox wore breeches, boots and a dark chestnut-colored leather vest over a long-sleeved white shirt. Her ginger hair was done in a rope-like braid that was then coiled and pinned in a bun at the back of her head.
Fox currently knelt at the edge of a babbling brook. She was bent over a device that was easy to conceal on her person; a tablet that depicted a geographical map of the kingdom, as well as her progress over it. She was keeping track of where she'd searched, and where she had left to search with it. The woman was staring severely at the screen when the sounds of approach pricked her ears. Smoothly Fox slid the tablet into the leather bag slung across her shoulders. She pivoted in her crouch toward the sound, then rolled sideways into the cover of a leafy bush.
For the duration of her short life, Rapunzel had been confined to the tight-knit space of her singular tower. After the events that took place on her eighteenth birthday, she'd been set free, thrust into a whole world full of new people and places. But she hadn't lost the memories, or the experiences. Her mind was still reeling at everything that she'd been introduced to in such a short amount of time, and sometimes it was nice to take a break. To get back to her old habits and lifestyle, even.
Rapunzel wasn't saying that she wanted to go back to her tower, or wishing that Mother Gothel was still around to chase after her, not at all. But playing hide and seek with Pascal? That seemed harmless enough. After leaving the tower, their hide and seek had become an even greater hobby. After all, they now had the whole of Corona to use as their playground.
However, Rapunzel and Pascal had failed to be all that clear with one another. On this particular journey, they had forgotten to set boundaries. Rapunzel had been looking for her ever-changing friend for what seemed like hours. They'd started their game at the gates of Corona, and she'd checked every nook and cranny of the cities first level before she finally found her way back to the entrance.
It was there, looking out across the bridge of stone, that the idea struck her. What if Pascal wasn't hiding in the kingdom at all? She'd been allowed to leave Corona whenever she wanted, but she was always accompanied by a well trusted guard.
In all honesty, she hadn't much wanted to leave the kingdom. There was still so much to be explored within it's walls, and her trips as a delegate had quenched the thirst she had for adventure, for the time being.
And yet, here she was. Sneaking past the guards hadn't been all that hard. She just had to put on a stern face and use the new-found "I'm the Princess!" card, and they didn't question her. It did make her feel bad, though.. But she was on a mission! Pascal couldn't have gotten far, all she needed to do was find him!
Her enthusiasm was gone after another hour of searching.
She'd made it across the bridge, even past the guards patrol. The forest wasn't all that scary anymore, not after everything that she'd been through. When she entered into it with a skip, the sun was directly overhead. Now, as she looked through the canopy of branches above her, she could see it starting to fall to the west.
"Pascal! This isn't funny anymore!" Her shouts came unanswered, and her anger was rising by the minute. She charged through underbrush angrily, her feet splashing in a brook that she hadn't seen coming. The bottom of her dress, violet, lace and beautiful, was soaked.
"Pascal! I'll give you to the count of five, and then I'm leaving!" She accompanied her threat with a stomp of her foot, which only made for an even wetter dress and an ever more upset Princess.

Through leaf and twig of the underbrush that she had sought refuge in, Fox stared out on the clearing around the rambling brook. Her eyes caught a stray beam of the westering sun and kindled, becoming as luminous and predatory as her namesake. While Fox watched, a young woman entered the scene. She wore a dress of impressive make, its stitching and lace making it as feminine or delicate as the color palette of lavender and soft, rosy pink. The redhead in her hiding place narrowed her keen glance. The young woman she was watching had an air of frustration about her and even fretfulness. Her eyes were darting this way and that, searching for something. So caught up in her search was the maiden that she strode right into the currents of the little river, and halted in surprise.
Fox looked warily at the short brown hair of the woman. She had done her research, and a good deal of digging alongside it. The identities of Rohandor's royalty were boasted and common knowledge, not kept in secret. Fox knew the faces of the King and Queen of Corona, and she especially knew the features of their famed princess whose adventure had been sufficient enough to secure their kingdom a place within the realm of Rohandor. Princess Rapunzel no longer wore her long golden hair of healing powers - had she, Fox would have been investigating the tresses instead of forced to locate the flower that created it. This young woman who was yelling to the forest at large, heedless of what would hear, was one and the same; the princess.
"Really?" Fox questioned herself in a silky whisper. "This is just too perfect." Her tone was full of smug satisfaction. Fox's luck continued to astound her. She couldn't wait until David heard about this. He'd either be highly amused or envious; likely both. Fox didn't know if Rapunzel had any knowledge of the whereabouts of the flower that had blessed her hair. She was operating under the assumption that the princess didn't, given that there was no data as yet cultivated by she or David's informants that suggested it. Some would have thought that avoiding the princess' detection would be the wisest course of action. Fox's errand was supposed to be stealthy and unseen. Conversing with the princess of Corona was hardly aligned with that particular goal.
Fox wasn't usually wise, though. She preferred cunning, guile and cleverness over the austere and rather pompous (in her opinion) variant. Besides, "wisdom" usually would point one to play by the rules and do the morally grounded thing. What fun would she have ever had if she'd held to the guidelines of wisdom? Being cunning and crafty was much more fun. Fox hinged on acting for a moment more, then she straightened so that the limbs of the plant that she was hiding beneath pushed aside, revealing her. Rapunzel stood still in the running water of the brook, and Fox stepped onto the grass that made its bank. She was not usually good at appearing pleasant, but the redhead gave her best try just then. Using the expression and attitude that she now geared toward Lexington (he was so good with little Alexander), Fox spoke to betray her presence.
"Are you looking for someone?" she asked with eyes earnest and curious and mouth in the brink of a smile.
