Time passes much more quickly in Rohandor and many long and happy years have gone by since the characters retired to enjoy their respective 'happily ever afters,' their greatest foes were imprisoned in the Forever Stone, bound in an eternal sleep. Until Now.
Happily Ever Afters takes place in Rohandor, a mystical realm on another plane of existence from our own. Here our favorite Disney heroes and villains live in a world all their own; Alive, but far from well. Heroes and heroines fight to keep peace while newly freed villains seek their revenge. "A Gargoyle doesn't whine; he ROARS!"
Post by Goliath on Mar 16, 2015 13:30:05 GMT -5
Goliath was brooding. It happened every so often; the large Gargoyle would meet with a problem that he couldn't readily and easily solve, and he would brood over the issue until he came up with some sort of solution. In this case, his problem was what to do with the situation with Elisa. He needed to do some more research, that much was certain, and that was part of the reason that he was headed to Scotland this evening.
He'd left Brooklyn in charge, telling his clan that he was going on a journey to their ancestral homeland, that he had heard news of some of their enemies. Of course, they'd asked him why he wasn't taking anyone with them, but this was just an intelligence-gathering mission; there was no need for anyone else to accompany him.
The clan leader had a feeling that not all of his clan had bought his excuse, especially not Angela, but it would do for now. What mattered was that they didn't follow him. Brooklyn was a very capable second; he would take care of the clan and the city while Goliath was gone.
The captain of the ship that had taken him to Scotland had started out in the afternoon, helpfully loading the Gargoyle into the hold so that he could awaken when they docked. As the sun set, cracks appeared in the skin of the "statue," and he came to live once more with a roar, shattering the stone surrounding him and sloughing it off.
"I thank you," he said to the captain, shaking his hand and offering him the payment they'd agreed upon. Hopefully, his research wouldn't take too long and he could return home shortly.
The large Gargoyle disembarked, taking a moment to get his bearings. He took a deep breath, noticing that this Scotland was like the one in which he'd grown up, and a slow smile found its way onto his chiseled face. Home.
Merida had remembered when one, not so long ago, the docks of DunBroch were quite unremarkable. One primary wooden avenue with an arm or two jutting off of it for the reception of boats. The most action the weathered thing had seen was when the clans gathered for the matter of her proposal. Since DunBroch's transferal into the realm of Rohandor, things had had to change, though. Trade increased markedly, now with so many exotic partners just an enchanted boat ride away. That meant more boats, and they couldn't very well all share one dock. That would have been madness.
Now what had once been a dinky little dock beneath the craggy cliffs that the castle straddled was nearly a harbor. The new additions still showed of fresh wood, and still filled the air with the scent of pine that hadn't dried entirely from the grains. Several warehouses, too, had been constructed for the more noteworthy partners of DunBroch to store their trade. If Merida was right in the rumors - she didn't really listen out for them, usually too busy on her own pursuits to pay attention - the whole area was now referred to as the "trade district" by the people.
Merida only cared about the expansions because with them came all manner of incredible new things. Each ship that would now enter the DunBroch harbor carried strange things from strange lands that she had never dreamed of. It wasn't out of character for Merida to fly to the docks at the sighting of a particular vessel from the castle walls, hoping to steal a glance at what they were unloading. Several of the captains of the trading ships had actually come to enjoy Merida's brazen, blunt attitude. Whether or not her status as the princess factored into their judgment she did not know - did not think to suppose it would.
Other captains weren't so nice. One in particular, a dirty man bristling with scarred muscle on a ship that hailed from the Amethyst Kingdom of Ambrosia. Merida was warned to keep her distance whenever they unloaded into their warehouse. When she asked her mother what the ship was supposedly carrying, the answer was "tapestries". The crates that they ferried held nothing as simple as tapestries, however. Merida's suspicions were piqued long before. Only after that morning's shipment had she decided to do something about them, though.
The moon was half full, bu the skies were so clear above DunBroch that that, in congress with countless stars was enough to see by. Merida wore her traveling cloak, her hood was up to disguise her rather telling head of hair. The docks were more busy than most would think, with sailors wandering to and from the village - and tavern - above, or guarding their wares. Merida crouched in the shade of the forest's edge, waiting for her chance to slip in between the buildings unnoticed.

Even as he noticed the similarities between his own Scotland and the place called DunBroch, Goliath was noticing the differences, as well. Castle Wyvern had never been this bustling, even when the refugees had sought sanctuary from the Vikings, that hoard who had eventually destroyed most of his clan.
No, this place was clearly a hub of much activity whereas his own home had been out of the way, surrounded by craggy cliffs to keep intruders from catching the inhabitants unawares. And for the most part, it had worked. The Vikings had figured a way around that, however, and the one time the castle's defences had failed had been the one time that everything had come to ruin.
Even as he'd been lost in thoughts of the past, Goliath had been making his way down the docks, past warehouses, towards the forest's edge. If the countryside of this place was anything like his ancestral home, then he would be right at home in the forests and the trees; he could find a high cliff and from there, he could glide to his destination, wherever that happened to be. It was rather a long shot, this errand, but if he could find the Wisps that were said to inhabit this place, he would be able to find his way from there.
The large Gargoyle was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice the young girl crouching in the shadow of the trees and ran right into her, surprise showing clearly on his face at the impact.
He wasn't exactly a small creature; he hadn't meant to knock anyone down. Glancing down at the girl, he offered her a taloned hand, to help her to her feet. "I am sorry," he murmured, the sincerity in his apology heartfelt. "Are you hurt?" Goliath certainly hoped she wasn't; it would be just his luck to take a trip from his home to another to try to gather as much information as he could, and he would end up injuring one of the natives.
((OOC: My characters literally run into poor Merida a lot. XD))
