Megara was very much out of her comfort zone. New York City was nothing like ancient Greece. Rohandor had opened her eyes to a great deal of things, but NYC was strangely off-putting. The crowds were rushing constantly, a shoulder-to-shoulder mass that could rarely be penetrated or broken. Besides that, Megara's attire was so far out of place, that she'd hidden herself away in some small antique shop until the sun had finally fallen. The woman who ran the shop didn't seem to mind her robes, or her loitering, which Meg was thankful for.
Her meeting with Basil, of Baker Street, had went fairly well. Though he hadn't been what she was expecting, a man instead of a mouse, his guidance was pure and truthful. His reputation proceeded him, however small he might have been.
His parting directions were clear; she was to go to Central Park on this very eve, and look for the witch named "Demona". He was unable to offer a good description, though he assured her that she would know the witch when she saw her. Wings. That's what he'd told her. She was the farthest thing from surprised, at this point, that a witch would have wings.
How she was suppose to find said witch in the huge expanse of green grass and concrete, Megara wasn't quite sure. The best place to start seemed to be anywhere, so the Grecian girl set off from her safe-haven and towards the nearest entrance.
The park was closed, officially, but that didn't stop Megara from ducking under the chain and beginning her search. Police officers were patrolling at random, causing her to dart behind trees or roll under benches at the strangest of times, but otherwise she was alone in the park. Or so it seemed. An hour had passed, and not much progress made, when Meg finally decided that the search was hopeless. She sat at the edge of a pond with an exaggerated sigh, tucking her knees to her chest slowly.
"I don't suppose calling for a witch would get me anywhere, would it?"

"A Gargoyle doesn't whine; he ROARS!"
Post by Goliath on Apr 9, 2015 14:06:29 GMT -5
Despite the fact that Goliath was taking Xanatos' advice (or perhaps because of it, really; that still didn't sit well with the large Gargoyle), he was still troubled. And when he was uneasy, he tended to go off on his own, to brood. The rest of the clan set out on their respective patrols while Goliath took a moment to gaze out over the city, from the highest point around, the spire that had always been his haunt.
The city was relatively calm, but it was a deceptive type of calm. Almost as though the criminals in the city were .... waiting for something. With the Forever Stone's breach, Goliath wanted to do more for the Isles, but right now, he could only keep his own, small portion of Rohandor safe. And try to figure out this situation at the same time.
Taking a deep breath, Goliath spread his wings, enjoying the feel of stretching them to their full span after a day of stone sleep. Letting the breath out slowly, he pulled his wings close to his back and leapt off of his tower, diving down, down, until at last, he opened his wings, catching the currents of wind to take him soaring high above the city.
Each of his clan had their assignments to patrol a part of the city, but Goliath had not given himself a portion. Instead, he was going to see where his wings would take him. He knew he'd have to set down eventually, but right now, the feeling of the wind flowing around him was refreshing and soothing. It was just what he'd needed.
Before too long, he was above New York's Central Park, circling the area. It was one of his favorite places in the city, and he enjoyed coming here when he was troubled. And tonight was no different. Dropping to the ground, he folded his wings around him, only to hear a young woman mutter a question about calling for a witch.
Goliath turned in the direction of the voice, frowning slightly. "You should be careful what you wish for, young one; in a place like this, a witch might appear upon your request."
She wasn't sure, exactly, how witches worked. Her experience with gods and monsters was enough to make her skeptical. Could a witch actually help her in any way? Hades was powerful, and his contract was binding. She could feel the weight of it, even now, and she needed answers. How was he able to resurrect the contract in the first place? What could he possibly gain from having her under his thumb? Hercules had beat him once, while she was under his spell, and he would do it again. Which brought on her next question; why hadn't she gone directly to lover boy?
Megara's thoughts were interrupted by an answer that she wasn't expecting to receive. Jumping up with a gasp, she turned to face the creature that had appeared from thin air, or so it seemed. Shadows fell, covering parts of him, but it was still very clear that he was no human.
She was going to accuse, or run, or maybe prepare herself to fight, when she noticed the stone wings that expanded from his back, caught in the moonlight. And then, with her eyes squinted as if that would help her, Meg realized that he was completely made of stone. Or maybe it was a she? Was this the witch that Basil had sent her after?
Like she'd been thinking before, she had no clue what she was in for, when searching for a witch in New York. Maybe this manly form before her actually wasn't all that manly. Or maybe witches were just far different than what Meg had been told.
"Who are you?"
Megara maintained her distance, but she'd come to far on this journey to abandon her quest now. No matter how frightening this monster might be.

Goliath had intended to take a walk through Central Park, to think about his situation, but it appeared as though his help was going to be required. He heaved a sigh; it seemed that whenever he needed a night to himself, he always ended up helping someone else. But, that was the life of a Gargoyle; they were much like the city's police officers, though they were hatched to serve and protect, they did not choose to do so.
The young woman was very clearly not from this New York; she had to be from somewhere else in Rohandor. In fact, her clothing choice seemed to be reminiscent of somewhere quite ancient; Greece, perhaps. He couldn't be certain; all his experience had been through books, after all, but it was still apparent that she wasn't from around here.
Which meant that she was most likely lost. Unless Avalon had sent her, of course; time worked differently on Avalon. But he wasn't quite ready to spend another six months trying to get home, especially if he was the only one for whom she had come.
She kept her distance, and it was apparent that his appearance had startled her, which meant that she probably wasn't here for him. Tom had been quite familiar with Gargoyles, with Goliath himself, and had known precisely who and what to look for. This young woman, it appeared, had no idea who or what he was.
Rather refreshingly, though, she did not ask what he was, she asked who he was, a question he was much more willing to answer.
"I am Goliath, leader of the Manhattan clan of Gargoyles," he rumbled, his wings flaring out to their full height. "What do you want with a witch?"
