Character Name: David Xanatos
Gender: Male
Type of Creature: Human
Rank: Neutral
Movie/TV Series: Gargoyles
Home Island: Isle of the Statue
Personality:
To simply label Xanatos as evil is unfair. Whilst immoral in some pursuits he never truly acts sadistic. Whilst occasionally selfish he is never egotistical. Xanatos is quite willing to share his achievements as long as he gets the first benefits and profit from them, covering both his business pursuits and his goals for immortality.
The best trait that separates him from other villains is his grace in defeat. He keeps an optimistic attitude looking at what he has gained rather than what he lost, best seen in his sparring matches where he told his hired partner that he would be fired should he 'pretend to lose'. Xanatos also opposes pointless villainry such as the mass murder of innocents.
As a husband and father David is willing to give his full support to Fox and Alexander, not hesistating for a second to use every tool as his disposal or even ally with his enemies if it would help them. He considers love his only weakness.
Powers, Skills, and/or Any Other Abilities:
Richer than most countries you could name: Thanks to his corporate connections Xanatos boasts almost limitless resources comparable to others of wealth in Rohandor's kingdoms; Bottomless finances, a personal army of well armed security troops and the best scientists in occult studies, cybernetics and biotech. Even the lawless mercenaries of the Pack are at his command.
Master of Steel and Iron: Xanatos controls the Steel Clan, a robotic army of gargoyles built in the image of Goliath. The Steel Clan can fly via rocket boosters, protect themselves with electric fields and can shatter stone with their claws. The Iron clan are similarly constructed but with the addition of Cold Iron to aid against magic based opponents.
Clothes maketh the man and breaketh his foes: Xanatos uses a pair of cybernetic power suits when he takes the front lines in combat. One is a modified red Steel Clan armour with enhanced versions of the usual weapons plus a particle beam weapon in the arm that can heat a target to the point of combustion. He also rarely uses a power sword. The second armour is the Coyote V1, a canine themed gold armour used when he needs to anonymously command the Pack (though he also passes this job off to the Coyote android). Aside from the claws and particle beam it also uses a nausea inducing sonic weapon.
Black Belt: A skilled judo and karate practitioner. Frequently spars with his assistant Owen Mercer.
Weaknesses:
Only human: Whilst physically fit, David Xanatos is still a normal human. If caught without his weapons he would be no match in a fight with Gargoyles, the Children of Oberon, Dragons or other powerful species.
Who wants to live forever? Me: Xanatos puts a lot of effort into discovering immortality. The elder gargoyle Hudson believes this is due to a fear of death or being forgotten. Any potential lead to achieving eternal life would make an irresistable lure for David. Though he is wary enough to know not to take such a gift when it is offered too readily.
Canon History:
As the son of a fisherman from Maine, David Xanatos is the kind of person that fate should just hand a simple life of labour and obscurity. David rejected fate when he recived an anonymous envelope containing a 10th century coin worth twenty thousand dollars which he used to start his own company whilst straining his relationship with his father Petros due to what seemed to be a future built on an undeserved handout.
Years later Xanatos Enterprises branched out into several holdings. Gen U Tech researching genetics under the morally bankrupt Anton Sevarius, The Scarab Corporation designing advanced robotics and Pack Media Studios using a television action series as a front for training an elite mercenary team.
During his work Xanatos was contacted by two powerful entities. The trickster Puck offered Xanatos a choice between a single wish (theoretically with limitless potential given Pucks reality shaping powers) or a lifetime mortal servant. Xanatos believing he could achieve anything on his own picked the latter and gained his right hand man Owen Burnett, a loyal but stoic assistant. The second contact was the immortal gargoyle Demona who notified David of an interesting curse behind Castle Wyvern.
Purchasing the castle from Scotland, Xanatos moved it brick by brick to be rebuilt on top of his skyscraper headquarters. This broke the curse placed upon the gargoyle Goliath and his clan who almost instantly afterwards repelled an invasion by corporate saboteurs. Befriending the clan Xanatos convinced them to attack his rival Cyberbiotics to recover 'stolen' technology. When the detective Elisa Maza uncovered the deception and convinced the clan David unveiled his robotic army the Steel Clan to dispose of them. After a brutal aerial battle Xanatos was arrested, however due to only recieving stolen property (as Goliath and the others had carried out the theft) his sentence was limited.
During his short time in prison and after his release Xanatos carried out many schemes against what was now known as the Manhattan Clan. Various immortality attempts through magic or technology, the cyborg Coldstone with his multiple personailities, the new Steel Clan, the Mutates, the clone Thaliog and using the android Coyote to lead the Pack, seperating them from their original leader Fox who he formed a relationship with and eventually proposed to. Despite losses during these plots he slowly gained hidden victories, increasing his public standing, gathering magical artifiacts, ousting the Manhattan Clan from their castle and even taking on Goliath in single combat thanks to his weapons technology.
On the day of his wedding Xanatos used the time manipulating artifact known as the Phoenix Gate to transport the wedding party, including his best man Goliath and his father Petros, to the 10th century. Contacting an Illuminati courier he ordered a single coin to be stored and delivered to his younger self in the 20th century proving to Petros that, thanks to a paradox, he was truly a self made man.
The feud between Xanatos and the Manhattan Clan did not last however. Between his new wife and son Alexander, aiding Goliath in undoing the Stone Curse placed upon Manhattan, the events of the Gathering and the public reveal of the Gargoyles led to a truce and their return to Castle Wyvern.
Game Information:
The new alliance of evil had contacted Xanatos for use of his resources in sorcery and technology. Given his preference for leading rather than following he has yet to take them up on this offer, however the promise of profit whilst two other factions battle is too good to pass up.
Anything Else:
During an attempt to trick Goliath into handing over the Phoenix Gate, the trickster Puck trapped the Manhattan Clan leader in an illusion of a nightmarish future. A cyberspace Xanatos was the villain of this nightmare, able to control any machine linked up to a computer from a virtual reality. This Xanatos has no redeeming features, willing to murder his own son and torture his victims without mercy. Though David Xanatos never encountered this entity it is potentially a powerful ally for the forces of evil.

"Okay Alex. Let's go over this one more time."
Xanatos threw the ball across the considerable length of his office on the top floor of his company building (if you disregarded the medieval Scottish castle planted on the roof), In his free arm he cradled his son. The bouncing rubber toy was quickly followed by a large grey and blue mass, the faithful watchhound of the Manhattan clan known as Bronx. The infant Alexander clapped as he watched the beast chase down the ball.
"You make sure the people know that you have what they want, then let them have a piece on your own terms."
A popping noise startled the father and child. Bronx waddled back over whining as the punctured, delfated remains of the ball hung from his teeth. In response David pulled another ball from the box on his desk and started bouncing it.
"Of course they don't know how to handle it right away and they'll allllways come back for help." The ball was handed over to Alexander who babbled happily as he held the ball above Bronx, enjoying the dogs antics as it balanced on his hind legs. "Just make sure you always dictate the terms."
Alexander threw the ball as hard as he could, clapping when Bronx followed it. The toy and pursuer soon vanished down the opening office door as the always stoic Owen Burnett entered carrying an open file and adjusting his glasses.
"Mister Xanatos. I have the report on the anomalous areas that have appeared."
"Nice work Owen. That's another lesson Alex. Get a good wingman. So what is it exactly? Oberon? His children?"
"It's most unusual sir." Owen spread a series of photos across the desk depicting various countries recently visited by employees of the various companies owned by Xanatos. "It seems that several nations have regressed chronologically. Some even adapting outdated technology."
Alex grabbed a photo showing a pen full of donkeys, David took the other side to have a look himself. "What's this?"
Owen turned up his nose. "A most distasteful business in Italy. An individual calling himself the Coachman is a major exporter in animal labour. He gathered the interest of your agents as it was unclear exactly how he breeds so many whilst having no holdings in any local farms."
"Huh. Maybe we should introduce them to robot labour. Put Scarab on that. Now how about the other rumors of magical artifacts?"
Owen talked through the rest of the report that he had put together about the other islands and realms. The interesting topics included a voyage to Atlantis commanded by a mercenary leader, several powerful genies, the gods of Olympus returning to Greece and stone guardians in China that could transform into loyal dragons. Xanatos held Alexander in both arms and raised him proudly.
"Daddy had better raise the jolly roger son. Prepare to board and plunder."
