Time passes much more quickly in Rohandor and many long and happy years have gone by since the characters retired to enjoy their respective 'happily ever afters,' their greatest foes were imprisoned in the Forever Stone, bound in an eternal sleep. Until Now.

Alice always thought she knew her home thoroughly, inside and out. But today, she'd noticed a door, tucked away in a corner, that she didn't remember ever seeing before. "Why, I must have walked past this door a thousand times and never noticed it. How very curious!" Alice said to herself. And of course, she just had to see what was on the other side. She glanced about, in case her parents or sister were to arrive and catch her going somewhere she wasn't allowed (if she'd never been there before, it was likely she wasn't allowed in... though the reverse was not often true in Alice's case), before opening the door quietly and slipping through.
As she closed the door behind her, the first thing she noticed was that the door looked quite different on its opposite side. It seemed... grander, somehow. As she turned around, she found that she'd entered a long hall with tall columns. It certainly didn't look anything like her home, or anything that could possibly fit inside it. She thought of opening the door again to be sure she hadn't forgotten walking through some lengthy passage, but found it locked. So there was nothing left to do but have a look around the place. It looked as though she was in some sort of castle. "It can't be Wonderland," she remarked. "It looks far too comfortable to be the Queen of Hearts' castle. And it looks like there are visitors being welcomed in, not executed!" It was a fortunate thing that she'd arrived at a time like this. She wouldn't have wanted to intrude at an unwelcome time. "So... what sort of a place is this then?"
Anna couldn't recall whose idea it had been, exactly. All she knew was that she liked the prospect, and Elsa had approved the notion. The general idea was that once a month a great host of merchants (most of them from other Isles or kingdoms of Rohandor) would come and set up stalls in the castle courtyard. For that one day, from dawn until dusk, the usual openness before Arendelle castle was transformed into the most miraculous melting pot of culture. Anna had spent every minute of her day the month before going from stall to stall in wonder and awe at all the strange, exotic things that the foreigners brought to sell. Yet, this month, even though many of the stalls were by the same merchants, it was like going to an entirely new marketplace.
Haggling voices and laughter rose into the air, brushing over the castle's steep roofs. Anna was beyond glad. Looking at the courtyard now, Anna could hardly believe that not long ago the entire castle was sealed tight, keeping happiness out and retaining only solitary silence. The sun was rising toward the noon and Anna had been enjoying the market since before the sun rose, when merchants were still skillfully erecting their stalls. After several hours of enjoying all that the Royal Market had to offer, even someone as outright jubilant as Princess Anna realized that she needed to take a break. The courtyard of the castle was relatively small, she knew, but with all of the merchants having filled it to the breaking point, it turned into a labyrinth.
Using the castle as a fixed landmark, Anna made it to the primary thoroughfare. The widest path between stalls that ran from the castle gate to its actual doors. Smiling at all of the wonderful chaos that was going on around her, Anna made it to the steps before the castle and mounted them. The doors were propped open, but no less than four guards stood at the ready leading up to them, and another four were posted in the entrance hall. She nodded to them dutifully and received a wave of curt bows from the men as she passed. Anna didn't much care for being bowed to, but she didn't say so. She just kept feeling a bit uncomfortable as she passed the guards indoors (who did the same thing) and then ducked into one of the main floor corridors.
Anna made it to the grand circular stair that wound through the heart of the castle and plopped down on the second step with a laborious sigh. The market was wonderful, but dealing with so many people and so much going on took the fire out of her after so long. She just needed a little bit of time to recharge. Anna leaned back on the steps using her elbows and let her head sag backwards as she closed her eyes. She wished that Kristoff and Sven could have been there to enjoy the market with her. Or Olaf. Or Elsa. They were all otherwise engaged, though, and Anna knew that her sister likely would be as uncomfortable in the atmosphere of the market as Anna was at home.
It seemed as though there was some sort of celebration going on- though it was hard to see out the windows, Alice could hear the sounds of revelry. Wanting the chance to join in the fun, or at least see what sort of celebration it was, Alice quickened her pace and soon arrived at the central stairs. But instead of heading straight for the main gate, Alice instead turned her attention to the young lady seated on the steps. She looked tired, somehow. But Alice got the impression that she was one of the locals, and she seemed more approachable than the castle's guards and servants. And someone local to talk to was exactly what Alice needed at this point- she'd need guidance to take part in whatever this celebration was. So, Alice walked up to Anna. "Hello," she said simply. "Could you help me, please? I'm... well, I suppose you could say I'm visiting here, but I don't know much about this place."
Anna was just finishing the loosing of a contented sigh when the sound of soft footsteps met her ears. Before she could rightly investigate, a shadow fell over her face and a gentle voice addressed her. The princess opened her eyes to see an upside-down (by her perspective) girl who was staring at her with a large, bright blue gaze. "Hi," Anna said, somewhat questioningly. The tilt of this girl's words, even from the first few syllables, was obviously foreign - as was her wardrobe. That wasn't altogether surprising, what with the market outside luring people from all over Rohandor to Arendelle.
Anna wasn't dim, even if sometimes she had silly oversights in her excitement. While the castle doors were open during the market, admittance was closely monitored by the guards. Just because the market was in full swing didn't mean that the kingdom of Arendelle could take a break itself. Work of a diplomatic sort still may need to be accomplished. This little girl didn't strike Anna as a visiting ambassador. The direction that she approached Anna, as well, piqued the princess' curiosity, because she must have come from deeper in the palace.
All of these thoughts Princess Anna entertained between the stranger's greeting, and the sentence that followed it. While the girl explained, the royal rose from her spot, turned to face her more politely and shook out her skirts as she did so. Anna's expression remained attentive, open and friendly; as per usual. Well, what the girl said only helped the princess to believe what she'd already supposed. The girl had the air of someone who was lost, but trying to handle their being lost rationally.
Once the girl had finished, Anna's mouth - which had been just slightly agape in interest - spread into a bright smile. "I would love to help," she assured sincerely. "I guess you want to get back to the marketplace, eh? Then follow me." Anna gestured grandly and then began half-walking, half-skipping toward the nearest corridor that would lead them in their desired direction. Turning around and continuing to walk backward in front of the girl, Anna asked, "So, this is your first time in Arendelle?"
The response from the girl with her head hanging upside-down made Alice smile. It was a very likable, quirky gesture, not the sort of thing she would have expected given the surroundings. The greeting made her feel a bit more comfortable in this unfamiliar place. Indeed, as Anna replied to her question, it seemed clear that she was very welcoming and friendly.
"Yes... I'd like that," she said. Of course, she hadn't come from the marketplace, and wasn't carrying any money which she could use to buy anything anyway, but it seemed like it might be a good sight to see, at least. A market in the middle of a day of celebration was always a lively place. Perhaps she might meet more new friends there.
"Oh, yes," she answered again when asked if it was her first time in this place, which she now knew was called Arendelle. She didn't know if it was a whole country or just a city- it wasn't one she'd heard of before, of course. "I'm from London, myself. Arendelle... it's a lovely name for a place," she said admiringly. She wondered what the landscape looked like. Well, she'd find out soon enough.
Alice's mind was filled with many questions of her own, but she supposed it would be best to start with the basics first. "I'm called Alice. What's your name?" she asked. If she was going to be guided around, she'd like to know who was guiding her.
