Angela woke up, shedding her stone skin with a roar. The last thing she remembered before waking up.....was the fight with the Quarrymen. She and Brooklyn....had lost. They were going to use her against the clan.
As soon as she remembered that, she tried to move and discovered that she was in shackles. Very strong shackles, to hold a Gargoyle.
Her eyes flashed red and she let out a roar of pain, frustration, and despair, sinking to her knees.
What was she going to do?
Brooklyn!
Angela looked around frantically for her companion, screeching as she pulled once more at her shackles. Thankfully, Brooklyn wasn't that far away from her.
"Brooklyn!" she called, unable to keep the note of terror from her voice. The stone sleep was supposed to heal Gargoyles from just about any injury, but that didn't keep her from worrying. She had watched him pass out, something that happened to Gargoyles very rarely.
"Brooklyn?" she called again, hoping that that was him and not some sort of decoy to demoralize her even more.

Darkness. Quiet, blissful oblivion. It was impossible to know how much time had passed while in the stone slumber. It was even more difficult to know if you were knocked unconscious with an electric hammer beforehand. Brooklyn felt suddenly completely alert and awake. The darkness no longer blissful but constricting. He felt trapped he needed to move, needed to be free. With a roar and sharp convulse of his body, Brooklyn broke free of the stone shell encasing his body.
He roared a fierce cry as the stone sleep left him. He blinked and looked around feeling a little disoriented. He was in a cell of some sort. It took him a moment to realize that he was no longer in battle and that he had just woken up from his stone sleep. Though he could remember the pain of his injuries, he noted that the sleep had healed him completely and physically he felt fine.
"Angela!" He cried suddenly, the events replaying in his mind. He looked up to see her standing against the wall near him, "You're okay." He felt relief wash over him to see her alive and healthy, but his eyes immediately zeroed in on her shackles. His eyes flashed white and he roared with rage. He tried to move towards her but realized that he too was shackled. He roared again pulling hard at the cuffs. He felt it biting into his flesh but he didn't care. He pulled harder feeling the chains groaning and the wall protesting but they didn't seem to give even a little bit.
He frowned there was no point in tiring himself out or injuring himself. At least until they had some sort of escape plan. He felt a pit start to form in his stomach. Some second in command he was turning out to be. Not only could he not manage to keep himself and his team from harm, but he had promised Goliath he would protect Angela and here she was chained to a wall. He sighed, not meeting her eyes. "I'm sorry I got us into this." Maybe if he was stronger and bigger like Goliath he would have been able to drive away the Quarrymen long enough for Angela to get away. Or maybe if he'd been smarter he wouldn't have cornered them in a stupid ally and they wouldn't have been trapped like they were.

The shackles clinked as Angela moved, stretching them as far as she could, trying to get as close to Brooklyn as possible. If she had just talked to him about the way she felt, they wouldn't be in this mess. She had led them right into the Quarrymen's trap because she had been avoiding looking at Brooklyn on patrol.
But how could the Quarrymen have obtained all the information that they appeared to have? How had a single human, or even two humans managed to restrain a Gargoyle, with nothing but their bare hands? Were they using sorcery?
These were the sorts of things that they needed to consider, once they got back to the Clan.
Angela wasn't going to give into despair quite yet; they had to get out of here.
"It's not your fault, Brooklyn," she said, hoping that he would listen to her. It ... hadn't really been anyone's fault. Well, other than the Quarrymen, of course. But they'd done what they had thought was the right thing; they had investigated a potentially suspicious sighting, and it had turned out badly.
However, the Quarrymen were going to have the rest of the Clan to contend with, once Goliath found out what had happened.
"Besides, we have to figure out how to get out of here," she said with a faint smile, trying to reach Brooklyn. "They shouldn't have kept us alive, because now they're going to pay the price."
Gargoyles were rejuvenated during the stone sleep, and now that both of them were at full strength, well, there would be hell to pay.

Brooklyn silently cursed himself. The last thing he needed to do was sit here and wallow in self pity. He could beat himself up about it later if he managed to live through this. Later when he wasn't in front of Angela. He felt like an idiot for allowing himself to appear weak and vulnerable in front of her. She didn't need to be coddling him because he couldn't keep it together. He needed to stay strong and prove not only to her that he was worthy, but to himself.
No, they weren't exactly in an ideal situation by any means but there had to be a way out of it somehow. If not for him, he at least had to find a way to get Angela out of here. "Yeah, but why did they keep us alive," He mused out loud looking around the cell trying to see if there was any sort of weakness or indication of where they were in regards to the earth's surface. The last thing he needed was for them to be underground.
The Quarrymen were unfortunately not stupid so that they might be very well be underground. He glanced back at Angela who in fact looked like some sort of avenging angel and briefly wondered if that was how she'd gotten her name. She was all passion and fury and looked ready to take on the entire lot of Quarrymen all on her own. She was beautiful. And he almost believed she could tear away their chains and single handedly get them out of there all on her own.
He hated to think it but in times like this, she was certainly more Demona's daughter than Goliath's.
"It doesn't make sense," He continued his musing, forcing himself to focus lest the situation get worse. "They could have..." He paused, choosing his words with care, "Taken us out with no trouble. Even before dawn with their numbers. What could they possibly want with us? If they hate gargoyles so much, what's the point of keeping us captive?"
"We're more useful alive, at the moment," Angela said, dreading what the Quarrymen were going to do. "By keeping us alive, they can use us against the rest of the Clan. And they can destroy us all at once."
She hated to think about being used against her family, against those she loved, but she was thankful that they were still alive. The Quarrymen could have killed them at any point, during the night.
They had to get out of here.
Angela tugged on her shackles again, experimentally, trying to see if there were any weaknesses in the chains or where they attached to the wall. So far, they appeared to be quite solid.
Which meant they were going to have to figure some other way out, one that didn't rely simply on brute force.
It was at that point that Angela remembered the pouch on her belt. She had just recently taken to carrying one, the way that Goliath did, which explained why she hadn't thought of it sooner.
She wasn't sure what was there, but hopefully, there would be something useful.
"Can you reach my pouch?" she asked Brooklyn, hoping against hope that the answer would be "yes."
More than anything Brooklyn didn't like that Angela was right, but she was. It wasn't exactly a secret that their clan was a close knit bunch. They not only protected the city- thought the Quarrymen seemed to have missed that part of the briefing- but they protected each other fiercely. Especially since they knew Angela was Goliath's blood, it was an easy assumption on their part that Goliath and the others would come looking for her. Certainly they would probably have come for Brooklyn himself, but with Angela in their hands, it was assured.
They had to escape as much for their own safety as the rest of the clan.
So caught up was Brooklyn in his thoughts that he almost didn't hear Angela's request. "Oh, uh, yeah. Right." Brooklyn noticed then that he was chained to the wall just enough that he couldn't lower his arms much past his shoulders. In a way their stone sleep had been a stroke of luck since they hadn't spent their entire time unconscious hanging from their wrists.
Brooklyn eyed Angela's pouch and immediately knowing he couldn't just reach over and grab it for her. If Angela didn't have enough slack for that act, neither did he. With a determined expression, he reached out with his tail and tried to knock it free. Unfortunately Angela was able to tie a very decent knot. Try as he might he couldn't get the pouch to fall. Frowning, he set his jaw, another idea coming to mind. "Don't move." He told her and then carefully, very carefully, Brooklyn reached out with his taloned foot and swiped at the strings with his foot. And the bag toppled to the ground.
Even as Brooklyn was trying different ways of reaching the pouch at her waist, Angela was rapidly thinking through what she could possibly have in it. There were some things about this modern world that still fascinated her, and she'd taken to collecting a few things.
If only she'd been like her friend Ariel, prone to collecting forks, they could have used the tines to pick the shackles.
Brooklyn warned her to hold still and Angela froze, hardly daring to breathe, let alone move as he swiped at her side with his foot. She wasn't sure if it had worked until she heard the distinct sound of something inside the pouch clattering on the hard, stone floor.
Wait a moment....Ariel had given her a fork at the end of their encounter. Angela hadn't exactly been sure what to do with it (Ariel used it like a hairbrush, oddly enough), so she'd just put it in her pouch until she could figure something out. She offered up a prayer of thanks that she hadn't taken the fork out of her pouch, yet. Ariel had just given them the key to their escape.
"Brooklyn!" she exclaimed, face lighting up. "We can pick the locks!" How hard could it be, right? She'd seen it done on television countless times, and Brooklyn had been living in Manhattan much longer than she had; between the two of them, they'd figure it out.
Angela took a deep breath, craning to see where her pouch had fallen as she felt with her foot. Before too long, her foot felt the material of her pouch beneath. Now all she had to do was get the fork from her pouch to her hand without dropping it or injuring herself.
She closed her eyes in concentration, managing to get her foot inside the pouch. But instead of being able to grab anything in it, all she managed to do was push the pouch further away.
Opening her eyes, Angela made a noise of frustration, willing herself not to give in to the panic she felt rising in her throat.
Brooklyn was almost overwhelmed by the lovely smile that spread across Angela’s face as she experienced some sort of epiphany. So bright was she shining that for a brief moment he didn’t realize what she had said. He wasn’t quite as confident in Angela’s plan to pick the locks of their shackles as she seemed to be. He’d never done it before and he was pretty certain it wasn’t as easy as it always looked on tv shows and movies. He preferred the brute force approach that resulted in the lock being broken off or just unseating whatever was attached to the hinges.
He wasn’t quite ready to be the killjoy that suggested Angela’s plan might not work. After all, no matter its final success rate, it was currently the only plan they had. He watched Angela struggle with the pouch getting more and more frustrated, “Relax.” He tried to sooth her gently, “Take a deep breath and don’t rush it. There’s plenty of time.”
He didn’t know if that was actually true though. They’d been alone for a significant bit of time already and whether or not that stayed true was at this point completely left to chance. “Use your tail to pull it back closer to you if you need to.” He had a feeling Angela wasn’t thinking straight under the circumstances or she wouldn’t be quite so frustrated. She needed to get the bag up on her own to pick the lock because he was too far away to be of any use. He took a couple of deep breaths to try to keep his own composure. Helpless was not something Brooklyn wore well.
