Aurora could physically feel it. Feel the earth shifting and changing. She'd felt it before, many times since she'd assumed her post as one of the guardians of Rohandor. A new realm was emerging. She had often wondered, but never asked, the other two members of the council how it was for them. Their elements were earth and water. Aurora distinctly had a connection with the earth and she wonder if it was for that reason she felt the connection of the new lands joining them so strongly.
Normally it wasn't painful exactly, but she could feel it consuming her entire being. She could sense the love and admiration for the arriving kingdom as it swirled around the land in a thick and unyielding fog days before The Coming. Along with that she could feel something like... a tightening in her chest as though she'd lost something precious to her and her body might turn in upon itself. Sometimes the empty feeling was worse than other times but in the end when the fog finally cleared and lifted to reveal the stunning addition to her lands, a joy filled her as she could never explain to Philip, as though she herself had created the city with her own hands and abilities.
This time the tightening was worse than it had ever been. She's been bedridden for the last day. Aurora could tell that the earth had almost finished healing after cracking, breaking open, and shifting to welcome whatever foreign land lay beyond the mists. She felt it like one might feel an injury healing; First the outer wound slowly closed over and then the bruise underneath slowly grew less tender before you had never known there was anything wrong.
Taking a deep breath Aurora slid her legs over the side of the bed unable to take laying there for another moment. She shuffled to the window barely able to stand. She forced herself to take deep breaths which helped her feel as though her body wouldn't collapse in on itself at any moment. As she looked at the horizon, she thought she could almost see a giant mass of swirling white far off in the distance. Whether it was a trick of the light or a vision brought on by her powers- or if she really saw it- she somehow could tell that this kingdom would be an addition to one of the closer islands to her homeland. To the Isle of the Mountain.
Aurora closed her eyes and leaned heavily on the frame of the enormous archway that lead out to her balcony. She'd never felt anything like this kingdom before. It still wasn't painful but she was certainly uncomfortable and unable to do anything to counter the feelings.
In a way she pitied the new arrivals. They'd come at the worst possible time. They were already in danger and they didn't even know it. This was a time to pull together and fight the evil that was infecting the land not the time to feel lost and disoriented as they acclimated to their new surroundings. Perhaps worse than that, Aurora would ultimately have no idea what kind of people were in this kingdom until it had already arrived. If they were hostile, which none of the kingdoms had been at least up until that point, not only would they make the problem worse but their proximity promised that the problem would be worse significantly sooner for the others that already lived on the Isle of the Mountain.
"Ah!" Aurora cried out as she felt her chest pulse then, suddenly it was like that empty space in her chest was full to bursting with joy and love. The feeling was so overwhelming that Aurora began to cry. She took in a long slow breath and let it out, feeling it come out staggered. She no longer felt uncomfortable and ill, but elated and light. As though a giant weight had been lifted off her.
Aurora moved forward to the edge of her balcony taking in a deep breath of the crisp cool morning air. Off in the distance, whether it was only a vision of the new kingdom or not, she was certain she could see the fog turn into a shimmering kaleidoscope of colors before seeming to explode high into the air. The sparkling stars would rain down upon the land all throughout the day to signify and celebrate the arrival. The air would smell like ozone and magic and Aurora planned to revel in it. Danger or no danger.
She could sense the kingdom now though some power of the amulet that she still couldn't understand. Arendelle this new kingdom was called and at least for now the residents posed no threat to her and her own. Though Aurora was eager to travel to this new place, she knew that she could not leave the palace just then.
Moving back inside and out of the bright morning light Aurora moved to a shadowed corner and took the amulet off her neck holding it out carefully in front of her. A beam of light only a few inches high shimmered upward creating an oval a little over a foot wide and a couple feet tall. Hazy blue and green colors swirled about within the magical mists of seeing. With her free hand Aurora carefully waved a hand over the mists, a small smile creasing the corner of her mouth, "Basil of Baker Street."
Wherever the little mouse was, the magical mists would find him and open up a proportional oval in front of him so he could see her face as well as she could see his. Rohandor needed an ambassador to travel to the new lands of Rohandor and the little mouse had more than earned the honor. "Basil," She greeted him, smiling at him when his image finally appeared in the oval, "You're looking well."
